Albeit unwillingly, of course.” Contrary to popular belief, Reuben didn’t always look the way he is now. He was cursed! In trying to do a good deed, Reuben was cursed by an old hag many years ago, compelling him to live in the forest and away from human civilization. His fate is not a secret to those who inquire about his condition, but people in his world hardly give him the chance to explain himself. He has a hard time socializing with other people for this reason. When Reuben looks for food, he usually forages in the forest, plucking edible plants and mushrooms. One of his favorites has always been the shaggy ink cap, both for its looks and its taste. However, it deteriorates quickly after picking. In isolation, Reuben has also spent a lot of time talking to the bugs of the forest, especially little caterpillars. Doing so brings him great comfort. Although, it seems that Reuben’s soft sniffles have attracted the attention of another contestant. . @top.oc (2024) Round 1: Left in the Wild :O . So it turns out that there was a little bit of a mix up at the hotel, but Reuben thinks it’s better this way considering his size and stature. It’s unlikely that even a luxury hotel would have the accommodations for a 13ft giant like him. Besides, he’d already eaten all the cereal (and their porcelain bowls) at the breakfast bar when he arrived! . While he’s not necessarily unhappy with the circumstances, he does feel bad for anyone looking forward to what was promised. Reuben, having heard about Conk’s work, politely asks if they could figure out what might have happened. . “Well sure! Of COURSE, I can do that for you ;)” . And so, Reuben lifts Conk through the trees of the forest that they’re forced to reside in, attempting to get a better signal. Then, Reuben spots two children run up to him. One child seems immensely amused, but the other seems worried, or perhaps, a little fearful. Reuben tries smiling warmly and speaks. “Do you two fancy a lift as well?” . . WAAAH THIS WAS SOO FUN TO DRAW!! I haven’t really drawn a forest ever before, so trying to get these textures was really difficult ;o;!! TOP OC 2024 Audition!! I’m participating in Top OC again this year with my OC, Reuben! He’s joining the Diamond Fox guild and his prop is a bowl of cereal. He was just so excited to partake in the breakfast provided by the hotel (Sunlight Crown) that he couldn’t help himself before the pictures! Reuben is my very very first OC, from when I was in middle school. As such, he has had a lot of cringe things about him that I have changed and will change hehe. His colors in the first slide are to represent the guild, but his usual palette is in the second slide. The bowl of cereal is an homage to a post I made years ago where he throws the entire thing in his mouth (slide 3). Here’s what I wrote in 8th grade about it: “Since he’s 13 ft tall, it’s difficult to find enough food to sustain him and has resorted to eating non-edible objects such as porcelain or clay. TopOC - Round 3 (OOC) "Oh goodness, am I glad to see you!" "Well, we better haul ass if you wanna be able to see for much longer" It's not often that Elise finds herself in such a pickle, so you can imagine the relief she felt when Xialin came to save her. Elise's little nefarious middling has caught the attention of a powerful rival mafia and well,,, things didn't start out well in this situation. Elise is known as "The Crow Merchant" amongst commoners, and "The Middler" in the Mafia. She's the middleman/merchant for all sorts of goodies and guarantees a safe travel from item to owner. She runs her little apothecary, which acts like a convenience store (which in turn is a front for her other shenanigans). One odd day, Xialin trudges through the door of Elise's Apothecary asking for help before immediately passing out onto the ground. Elise, while not a trained medical professional, does her best to save Xialin and succeeds. Xialin supposed that it was just a matter of time before she had to pay Elise back, and this moment was a better time than any other. This is Marta. She lives on the española island of the Galápagos with Bobo. The name Bobo comes from the spanish, meaning stupid. Blue footed boobies look a little waddly when they walk, but they are very graceful swimmers and they can dive up to 60mph. She can’t tell your fortune, but she can give you matching crocs. Marta has no idea where they came from, she just likes to hold on to stuff the waves bring to her. Siblicide is when a sibling kills another or harasses another for survival, or jealousy. Blue-footed Boobies are a species that normally have first siblings be prioritized and the younger siblings are often smaller.
