How can a place so limited harbor so much hope? The film depicts the resilience, and the length the human spirit is willing to go and fight to retrieve its freedom. How one’s life can change in an instant and how can they also change it. When all hope is lost can there be trust left to shine on us and lead us to, at the very least, a smile or a happy day.
Serving a life sentence, Red can get things in from the outside but the one thing Red needed from the outside was given to him by Andy. Something he lost when he entered Shawshank State Penitentiary.
