Why am I discouraged?
“Why am I discouraged?
Why is my heart so sad?
I will put my hope in God!
I will praise him again—
my Savior and my God!” Psalm 42:5-6
Through all of Psalm 42, David goes back and forth through longing for God, praising him and hoping in him, to despair and sadness about his life.
This might be something you can relate to? While you have faith and hope about situations in your life, you still have moments of worry for the situation, and feel discouraged until God lifts your spirit when you praise and pray.
David had many ups and downs, but he always placed God at the forefront of his fears and worries. He would always come to a place of testifying of God’s goodness.
Through his trials and many tests, at the end of his life, he spoke these final words. “The Spirit of the Lord speaks through me; his words are upon my tongue.”
2 Samuel 23:2
That is my prayer for all of us, whatever our circumstances; that we will place God at the forefront of our lives, that we will testify of God’s goodness and guidance, as he speaks to us and through us.
