Stratford Shoal Light
Long Island Sound, between CT and NY (Fairfield and Suffolk Counties)

Located in Long Island Sound close to the CT/NY border, the lighthouse is often referred to as "The Middle Grounds".
It stands 35' tall and is constructed of granite. It was first lighted in 1877 and was automated in 1970. A fog horn
sounds for two seconds every 15 seconds. The light flashes white every five seconds. It is still an official aid to navigation and was placed on the National Registry of Historic Places in 1990
