Lot 502 - LUCANIA
Poseidonia (Paestum). Nomos c. 540-510 BC. (7.51 g, 12 h) POM retrograde, Poseidon walking right, wielding trident, chlamys draped over both arms. Rv. POM raised and retrograde, as obverse but incuse, no serpent. Gorini 31, 3 ans 214-215 (same dies) and Antiken Museum Basel 158. Selten / Rare. Herrlicher spätarchaischer Stil. Alte Sammlungspatina / Wonderful late archaic style. Old collection’s patina. Vorzüglich / Extremely fine. (~€ 15'625/USD 17'045).

Panormos. Tetradrachm c. 340 BC. (16.87 g, 6 h) Quadriga galloping to left; above, Nike flying right to crown the charioteer who bends forward, holding kentron in his right hand and the reins in his left; in exergue, Punic inscription SYS; above the head of the farthest horse, star. Rv. Head of Kore-Persephone to left, wearing necklace, triple-pendant earring and corn wreath; below chin, swastika; around four dolphins. Jenkins pl. 21, 70 (same dies). Rizzo pl. 66, 1 and SNG Lockett (same dies). Very rare. Of lovely, purely Greek style. Minor traces of corrosion, otherwise, virtually as struck. (~€ 31'250/USD 34'090).
