"The Horoscope is divided into twelve segments, or Houses, where each is ruled by one of the Twelve Zodiac signs in sequence. The Zodiac begins with the First House (Aries) and goes counterclockwise until it reaches the Twelfth House (Pisces). At the moment of our birth, the Ancient Planets (and the two Nodes of the Moon) occupied Zodiac Signs and Houses. However, the Twelve Houses are not the same as the Twelve Zodiac. The Zodiac Wheel is based on the Earth's yearly revolution around the Sun, while the Houses reflect the Earth's twenty-four-hour rotation around its axis. Thus, the Twelve Signs of the Zodiac are called the "Celestial Houses," while the Twelve Houses are called the "Mundane Houses." When Astrologers read a person's Horoscope, they look at both the Celestial and Mundane Houses for the most optimal interpretation. Since the Houses shift every two hours, the correct time of birth is essential. The first six Houses are the "Personal Houses," while the last are the "Interpersonal Houses". The energy influences of the Personal Houses are reflected in a broader sense in the Interpersonal Houses—each Personal House has its Interpersonal counterpart directly opposite to them. Thus, the First and Seventh House are related, as are the Second and Eighth, Third and Ninth, Fourth and Tenth, Fifth and Eleventh, and Sixth and Twelfth. Each of the Twelve Houses is associated with various attributes in one's life, beginning with the Self and expanding outwards into society and beyond.
