Lots of people ask me at markets, “are these voodoo dolls?” They’re not, but they utilize similar techniques involving sympathetic magick.
Sympathetic Magick is when you use an archetype to represent something in order to manifest or carry out an intention. Two categories of Sympathetic Magick include using items representative of certain things in order to obtain that outcome (like, when burning Rosemary for cleansing) & using archetypes as a means for representing someone/oneself (like, poppets).
This ritual employs both methods in order to deeply connect with archetypes & natural elements for performing Shadow Work or Manifestation of the Self. It can aid in self-inflection, bringing one’s best self forward, & self-deification. Self-deification is when one connects with a deity or an archetype in order to exalt oneself to worship. This can be used in the journey to self-love & acceptance, helping one to overcome trauma & pre-conditioning for healing. It also helps one to open up to love & compassion & acceptance for others, in order to establish healthy boundaries & relationships. By placing yourself at the center of the altar of your life, you are ultimately giving yourself the power you worship deities for. You are your own deity because you have the power of self-awareness, compassion, & open mindedness, so that you can make anything happen in your life. It’s no longer about “if” something will happen, but “when” as you begin manifesting these things with the help of the natural elements &/your ancestors.
As you tend to your poppet, in a sense, you are also tending to yourself. ✨
