My heart has been particularly heavy for college students.

I found this picture of myself at 19 years old and despite the smile for the photo, I had lost sight of hope, and was in serious depression. It was about a year after the accident and traumatic brain injury. I couldn't read, drive or focus. I lost huge parts of my memory. The doctors said I would never recover. Never recovering meant I could be throwing up every day for the rest of my life. I wasn't able to be in school, I couldn't play tennis, I couldn't even hang out with friends most nights because of the strong symptoms. I lost my independence and everything I had ever liked about myself.

I told God that if I was going to remain alive on earth, He needed to prove to me He was worth it.

There were many, many, many hard and lonely days ahead. It was not an overnight turnaround, but trust turned into a deep, real hope.

A college student recently asked me about holding onto hope because her's was running out...

I told her it's about the small moments that can seem really insignificant. In those small moments of surrender and trust, God shows up. He brings His peace. Then those small, tiny moments that no one sees build into months and years of trust where hope is no longer theoretical.

It doesn't seem like it was that long ago... but all of a sudden I'm not that 19yr girl old without hope...

I'm 27, living in Boston, sharing with students about how I got through... and I am so glad that I did.

Wherever you're at in the journey, never, never, never give up. Ask God to show you hope in this very moment. Acts of obedience in choosing not to worry in THIS moment, turn moments, which turn into years of testimony.

God isn't finished writing your story… don’t take it from me, ask God and see for yourself 💙🙌🏻
