Ho letto tante storie di donne con la mia passione su MissBiker.com e ho visto un pezzetto di me in ognuna. Ho avuto la fortuna di crescere in una famiglia di “bikers” e di essere portata in giro in sella fin da piccola. L’odore della miscela era un profumo buonissimo che mi ha accompagnato per tanti anni. A due mesi dal suo cinquantesimo compleanno papà ha avuto un grave incidente proprio in sella, un’auto gli ha tagliato la strada, ha provato a frenare ma niente, se n’è andato poco dopo. Immaginate che duro colpo per me e mamma. Le moto le abbiamo vendute e ci è rimasta dentro quella fobia e forse un po’ di odio per quel mezzo che se l’è portato via. Forse la passione per la moto ce l’abbiamo nel sangue, forse è qualcosa che ci cresce dentro ma a 45 anni ho deciso che volevo sentire quella libertà che tanto piaceva a mio padre, capire cosa si provava. La prima guida è stata un disastro. Avevo nausea e vomito, palpitazioni, una fottuta paura di star sbagliando tutto. Mi sono imbattuta in MissBiker e ho scritto a Lisa su Instagram, non pensavo mi rispondesse, era un mio sfogo e volevo solo essere compresa. La nostra “Liz” mi ha ascoltata e dato fiducia e non la ringrazierò mai abbastanza per questo. Due mesi e tante guide dopo ho preso la patente e una 450 cc. Non va veloce ma è bellissima e giusta per me. Volevo un mezzo che mi accompagnasse nella scoperta di questo mondo ed è quello che sto iniziando a fare. Un po’ di paura c’è sempre, lo ammetto, ma forse sta proprio lì il bello di questo veicolo a due ruote che ha un cuore. Partirò per la Corsica a giugno, sarò con 2 amici di cui mi fido e che mi hanno sempre sostenuta. Perché la Corsica? Perché è stato il viaggio di nozze in moto dei miei genitori. Ho trovato le foto nell’album di famiglia e vorrei ripercorrere quelle strade. Sarà il primo viaggio ma ne seguiranno tanti altri. Non mi sono mai sentita così viva. April 2024 - Oman I arrived at Nizwa Bikers Camp (@nizwabikers ) same day as @cycling_fab 👉👉 check out his amazing trip!! From here I went through and over the villages like Misfat al Abriyyin, Jebel Al Hatt and Tanuf back to Nizwa. It was so nice being up at Jebel Al Hatt as being up on 2000m, so temperature went down to 24°C 😁🤩 I figured out, that the offroad from Jebel Al Hatt down to Bald Said is the "famous road (Snake Canyon)" down or up, depending from where you are coming. My advice is, after only 2km into it, be a really good rider and/or be on a 4WD 😅 After the nice fresh air it went back to almost 40°C coming down from Jebel Al Hatt, so Wadi Tanuf was "paradise" ... Do you ever wonder why so few cycling (influencer) moms exist? The first reason that most probably think about, is that there are just not a whole lot of moms with (little) children that cycle, which might be part of the reason. But I also believe that the lack of time to create content is even bigger. To grow on Instagram nowadays your content has to be perfect - not just the body but also the surroundings, the bike, the clothing. Lucky are those who already had a big following before - feels like they can just post anything and get x amount of likes. Most of the time when I get on my bike I’m already racing the clock before I even started. Cycling alone in flat northern Germany is as attractive as…pick whatever you like. By the time I get home the little guy is either already awake in the back or hungry cause mom was out so long. The “not so popular” content needs to be edited and by the time I finally made a reel that looks nice, I missed all the hip posting times… But if I have to choose between using my free time for cycling or creating instagram popular content I would always pick cycling. Still curious to hear how you do it? Where are the moms? or the cyclist that rides alone - always imagining how cool this content would be if only there was someone to film it. April 2024 - Oman On my way to Muscat I stopped at the Bimmah Sinkhole. I met there inespequito94 and her husband @miguelperdigao_couves from Portugal 🤩🤸♀️ Que boa surpresa 🤸♀️💃 Then I realised already the time and @khalid_adventure offered me to camp at the premises AND he prepared us superb, delicious dinner 😋😋 Thank you!! The next day I went to Muscat visiting the sights, seeing a cruise ship and its hords down in the Souq area 😅 and spend an early morning visit to the famous Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, early enough before above mentioned hordes would flock into the Mosque. Finally, finally! Hit 1000 miles on the millage this weekend. It's not a massive thing, but to me, at the beginning, 1000 miles seemed impossible with all the stalls and nerves. At one point, I thought I was not cut out for bikes regardless of how long I had wanted to do this and should just give up and sell. I am so very glad I didn't and kept going. 3 months and counting now till my first, massive, bike tour. These 12 experienced riders took the Experienced RiderCourse (BRC2 License Waiver) in the rain on their own motorcycles at the elite Riding Academy of NJ located at MSU. With the help of MSF instructors Sal Ferraro and Wendy Baytan, they took this 5-hour motorcycle course this Sunday to further develp their riding skills and for some, to get their motorcycle license. Congratulations to Class 557AM. They took the MSF Basic RiderCourse (BRC1) in the rain at the elite Riding Academy of NJ located at MSU. With the help of MSF instructors Michael Vinogradov, Stephen Cheung, Troy Weygandt and the one and only Paul "The Wolverine" Huelsenbeck, they took this motorcycle safety course this weekend and learned the physical and non-physical skills needed to ride a motorcycle safely and get a motorcycle endorsement. 🇬🇧 A different, spontaneous weekend, with plans made at the last minute to escape the rain and make the most of Saturday on a motorbike ride through Alentejo. Moments of discovery through Arraiolos, Alto de São Bento (Évora), Monsaraz and Mourão in great company! One more ride to get used to the Big T, which is only 2,500 kilometres and continues to surprise me. I’ll be making a video soon to share my experience so far.
