In the spotlight today is this phenomenal trio of violins from the multigenerational workshops of the Hill family in England. - The first violin, a fine instrument emulating Stainer in its arch and model, was made by Lockey Hill for Longman Lukey Co. in London circa 1770. A rich and full sounding violin, with excellent handling. - The second violin was made by Henry Lockey Hill, the son of Lockey Hill in 1832 in London. This violin has more powerful characteristics both in its arching and its model, a brilliant, responsive, and exceedingly powerful instrument. - The third violin pictured is from the well known firm of William Ebsworth Hill and Sons, or W.E. Hill and Sons. It was built in 1906 in their London workshop, and is a fantastic example of the refined output of their team of master luthiers.
