Wahlrecht ab Geburt? Die 7 Jahre alte E. schreibt an unsere Kreisgeschäftsstelle (red.bearb.): „Ich bitte euch, dass wir Kinder auch wählen können. In Hofheim gibt es viel zu wenig Radwege. Warum dürfen wir nicht auch kleine Politiker sein so zum Beispiel. Warum müssen immer nur die Erwachsenen mit wählen dran sein. Wir Kinder wollen auch mal!“ Dieser Brief ist nicht süß - dieser Brief ist richtig stark. Aus zwei Gründen. Erstens habe ich der Siebenjährigen für ihren Mut gedankt, weil sie etwas sehr Wichtiges getan hat: Nämlich laut und deutlich ihre Meinung gesagt und mitgeteilt, was sie fordert für ihre Heimatstadt. Ich hoffe, dass sie mein Angebot annimmt und wir mal persönlich weiter quatschen😎💪🏼 Und zweitens: Sie fordert ein Wahlrecht - eine politische Stimme für Kinder! Als GRÜNE setze ich mich für das Wahlrecht spätestens ab 16 Jahre ein, das schon in den meisten Bundesländern in Deutschland auch für Landtags- und Kommunalwahlen gilt. In Hessen leider noch nicht. Die Debatte um das Wahlrecht ab Geburt sollten wir begleitend wieder stärker führen. Warum? Wir alle haben nur dann eine Zukunft, wenn die Politik in unserem Land zukunftsorientiert und nachhaltig gestaltet wird. Die Bedürfnisse und Potenziale von Familien und damit vor allem von Minderjährigen kommen in der öffentlichen Debatte kaum noch vor. Wir brauchen deshalb dringend einen politischen Wandel, der ALLE Menschen unserer Gesellschaft im Fokus hat und unsere Demokratie zukunftsfest macht.
