Private appointments for shy and reactive dogs? YES! We do that! Vesper is lucky. If he needs a new coat or harness, he doesn’t have to go anywhere — I measure him, measure the harness, and bring home the one that fits. But YOUR shy/reactive dog probably doesn’t have that luxury. Not to mention the fact that your dog might actually ENJOY an outing, if only it wasn’t for all the unpredictable elements (other dogs or people entering, etc.) Shy and reactive dogs need stuff just as much as a friendly happy-go-lucky hound; it’s just harder to get. That’s why we’ve always offered private appointments for those special pups. Available most days of the week, we’ll meet you before the shop opens or after it closes. We reserve about 30 minutes for you and your pup to shop. All we ask is that you give us a brief heads up as to what you’re looking for (raincoat, harness, etc.) and basic measurements of your dog (weight, general size) so we can provide you with a good starting point. One of my favorite things in the shop right now is the Snuffle Ball 💗 I have to admit that I did not anticipate loving this enrichment toy as much as I do. But yesterday, when we had some repair people at the house, I stuffed our Snuffle Ball with treats, tossed it into the crate (aka “the condo” as it takes up like half 😳 of our living room!) with Luna Mae, and she was busy and happy and quiet the entire time. (Why only Luna? Because I knew that neither Sierra nor Obi-Wan would want to engage with strangers. And Vesper eventually does settle down; I just needed to be able to quickly grab him whenever the repair people entered or exited the house.) SO! I fully intended to have my boys model this bow tie this week, to promote it for Mother’s Day. But I kept getting distracted. First, it was the rain. This morning all 4️⃣ dogs — YES! Even old, arthritic Vesper! — ran to the back corner of the yard to bark at squirrels 😱 And let me tell you, we had some pretty nasty feet and bellies after that. A lot of gunk can get caught between those long, elegant, sighthound toes 🐕 (Apple really needs to come up with some better dog emojis!!) That’s why we always keep our MudBuster, dry shampoo, and towels by the back door. We fill our MudBuster with water and a little bit of unscented dog shampoo — and yes, we have it at home in two sizes because Obi-Wan has much bigger feet than the girls. This wonderful invention comes in three sizes and two colors. We are fully stocked in all sizes and colors — although I think we have just the small size in fuchsia and gray.
