"Kaleidoscope 3.0", titolo che rimanda all'omonimo strumento ottico, ritrae una ballerina-marionetta la cui figura si ripete quattro volte rispettando rigorosamente la struttura simmetrica che tale dispositivo comanda. Il primo piano della ballerina si erge su uno sfondo di colori cangianti, come immerso in una dimensione onirica, o meglio, spingendo il fruitore a sentirsi coinvolto attivamente nell'azione di star sognando. Un sottile richiamo al surrealismo, un'illusione di movimento e grazia eterea. Quest'opera fa parte di un progetto fotografico più ampio, dedicato alla figura di Mangiafuoco dal titolo "Le Ballet Macabre des Marionnettistes". Attraverso questa immagine il fruitore viene spinto a ragionare tra il tangibile e l'effimero, tra il fantastico e la realtà, trasportandolo in un viaggio oltre-senso proprio come quello offerto da uno spettacolo circense. . . . Hal Eyre continued ... Seeing that I've mentioned Hal's approach of using a diagonal stroke to mark the transition from light to dark, I thought I would also tag the way that he uses white lines in shadows and black lines in light. Few artists manage this technique well but Hal was superb at this. Day two in Sydney This afternoon we went to the State/Mitchell Library. The reason I mention this minor detail is that I discovered an interesting visual device used by one of Australia's illustrators/cartoonists during WW1, Henry Leo (aka "Hal") Eyre (1875–1946). As shown in this photo, what Hal did was to use a set of parallel angled strokes to mark the transition from dark to light.
