The Church of Santa Maria Della Vita is located in the heart of the Historical center of Bologna. . it houses the famous “Lamentation over the Dead Christ” by Niccolo dell’Arca, dating back to the second century and called the “ Scream of Stone” by Gabriele D ‘Anunzio. . These human size sculptures, are made out of terracotta and considered as a master piece of Italian Renaissance. . It depicts an intermediate episode between the deposition of Christ from the cross and his entombment. . Although the image is static, the garments of two female figures —clinging to their bodies, driven by a dramatic force — reveal a violent dynamism. .
