So, let's have a round-up of front steering, braking and suspension components on Yrla after 208,643 miles: *Springs - both replaced, NAPA springs, done >60,000 miles ago. *Dampers - both replaced, Monroe dampers, done 34,000 miles ago. *Wishbones - original and 208,643 mile original bushes, but ball joints were replaced 30,000 miles ago. *ARB drop links - 208,643 mile originals. (Yes, really!) *ARB bushes - 208,643 mile originals. *Driveshafts - Original on this side, replacement on the nearside (left, passenger side). *Wheel Bearings - both replaced today, Ridex bearings from AutoDoc. *Inner and outer track rods - replaced 14,000 miles ago *Brake Calipers & Hoses - original, but had replacement slide bushes and pins. To be honest I'm still in awe that the original drop links are still on here and they've done 208,643 miles on the neglected roads of the UK! Drop links take a beating here, normally they need replaced quite regularly (my mother-in-law's i10 for example, the ones I fitted were it's SECOND set of drop links, that car has only done 27,000 miles!). Really need to repaint the brake calipers at some point soon. 🖌️

Guess who's back? I got a surprise call this afternoon from the bodyshop to say Yrla was ready. I honestly wasn't expecting her back until Monday! She's looking better than before, even better than pre-accident because as part of the paint blending process on the bumper, the painters at the bodyshop have repainted the tow eye cover which I've had real difficulty getting matching paint for. I'm really pleased with the result of tidying the headlight too, the only clue it was ever scraped is a TINY scratch and if you're looking that close at her, you're looking too closely and I will wish the ever present pain on you of having an eyelash permanently poking your eyeball. So I am one happy teddy bear this afternoon. I'll be glad to hand back the Qashqai courtesy car tomorrow morning (it's too late to hand it back today).
