The April Depression Buster: By the end of March, I was wishing I could stop waking up. Forever. I felt like a rubber band stretched and left in the blazing sun to dry out. I needed a plan. "If you are not happy, then you need to go back to when you were happy." The plan was to shoot a photograph every day, no Photoshop and no DSLR. Everything would be done on my phone in a 1:1 ratio. I gave up in the first week and a half. Stretched and left in the blazing sun. A week or so later and I tried again. It wasn't about crossing the finish line, it was about completing what I could. I would do multiple pictures in a day when I had the energy. Look at the numbers, I accidentally did two day 13 uploads. I didn't discover it until today. This means that while fighting spiraling depression, while completing a convention, outdoor art event and an art day at an elementary school, while performing my husband and father roles, while working a full time job, only getting four hours of sleep a night AND undergoing therapy AND I did one more picture than I needed to and a Thank You picture. This is not the norm, and I am not begrudging what any survivor is going through. You do what you can do. But I hope you can take inspiration from a 52 year old Godzilla toy photographer who has been crafting the longest webcomic in history since 2000. No sir, I didn't like it. It wasn't for me. There are many positives that I will laud it with. But for the overall movie experience, I left the theater unsatisfied. Then I saw everyone else was enjoying it, calling it the best of the series. I really felt like the genre had left me, or I no longer fit. I loved King of the Monsters, everyone else didn't. I really disliked Godzilla vs Kong, everyone seemed to enjoy it. Was it me? Had I been Gen-X'd out of the zeitgeist? I already know that my mood can greatly affect the media I consume. It happened with Cyberpunk on Netflix. After a second viewing I began to appreciate it. But this, I was looking forward to this movie, and it just didn't measure up to what I wanted. And I'm not going to tell you why. These are my feelings and reactions. I don't want them to color yours, and I want the Monsterverse to continue. Everyone really seemed to enjoy it. 7. Proof you can do a mostly monster movie, a chance to do so without narration or info dump even. 8.
