Post trackday strip down. Done a right job. Tooth gone off 3rd stopped the day. Had been running a little rough, the blown gasket explains that 🫣. The heads really soft alloy so everything has pulled into it. Which is probably the root cause of the failure. Got 6 years of mostly track use out of it though. Been a while… Since the last update, I have been flat out in the garage for the last 2 weeks trying to get the car ready for the summer, as the car currently sits, fuel line is back in, it fires, sill reinforcements are in, outer sill is welded back on. Among a number of other things, the car is now running again (without an exhaust on 😅), and yes it does sound like a tractor 😂😂😂. The battle continues. Further mods to the front frame are required as I can not pivot the engine enough to get the correct angle for the output flange. I presumed I would be able to compensate for this at the rear by clocking the diff, but this would mean lowering it quite considerably and did not want to compromise my ground clearance. So engine back out. Worked out the engine need to go down and forward for me to achieve the correct angle. So my newly powder coated frame has had to have it! Engine mount cut off and moved forward. Should give me around 12mm of movement forward 🤞 I’ll be adding a fillet piece to strengthen this and the other mount cut up ready for further work. Another straight weekend on the car. Finished welding in the front floor pan. Then noticed some rust on the doorstep, was hiding a variety of holes. First go at hand forming the metal into shape.
