🚲𝗕𝗿𝘆𝗰𝗲: 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟮 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿🚲 Meet Bryce. He’s our Track Operator, which means he organizes the local racing events at the Okotoks BMX track, except for the Canada Cup and Provincial events. Bryce does everything from receiving race registration forms and adding entries to the bicycle race events computer software, to developing all the aspects of the race and submitting the results to Alberta Bicycle. It’s from Bryce’s hard work and accuracy that riders will ultimately increase their class designation and develop cumulative points for year-end recognition. Bryce has been involved with Okotoks BMX for the past 7 years, with his first summer simply volunteering at the track once a week on race nights. Then he became a Director at Large and ultimately volunteered for the Track Operator position. He has spent many hours with the club developing strategic plans, making preparations, and simply enjoying the BMX club with like-minded individuals. His son, Dylan Thomas (also known as DiRT), will ride this coming season as a 13 Expert Male and he too has been with the club for 7 years. Bryce joined the Okotoks BMX Board simply because he could see that support was needed. He continues to work on the board to make sure he’s doing everything within his ability to maximize the amount of BMX racers having the best opportunity to do what they enjoy. Bryce says “at the heart of BMX racing is a purity that is simply described as a kid and a bike, it is the very fabric of the sport and it speaks to why so many people take the time to apply themselves.” When is not at the track he enjoys going for a mountain bike ride (downhill and cross country are his preferences), working on anything mechanical (which is very regularly is a bicycle), golfing, and travelling to BMX races to enjoy watching his boy on his bike. #boardmember #trackoperator #okotoksbmx #volunteer #kidsasndbikes #funinokotoks #racing #bmxrace #7years #thankyou

Words from our Track Operator, @tbone_tannersebesta: Not sure if you’ve seen #pedalforprogress fundraiser yet, but we’re blown away by the amount of support and donations we’ve received yesterday. We want to get things rolling and I thought what better way to start than to share why this cause is important to me. After operating the track for 4 months last year and seeing how much effort it takes to maintain a good track is very hard work. Even with support from volunteers it’s a drag when you show up to the track after a big rain and see all your hard work go to waste and have to start from scratch again. This is why I’m pushing to get aspault for our turns and starting hill. No more long hours of raking and packing the turns. Instead we can show up plug the gate in and get to riding! Volunteers can now save there backs and not have to blow themselves out after they work there day job. We can be open more often and keep the kids on bikes instead of waiting to have a workday to get the track in decent shape to ride again. A thriving BMX track is one that is open consistently. That’s what I’m pushing to bring to San Antonio at Lonestar Bmx! We are in the final stretch of getting the track up and running and want to have asphalt on the turns when we open!
