Recently I was told I need to "shine my light" more. That it's okay to focus on myself sometimes. So, in that vein let's show me on a wedding day, lighting candles and checking napkins and place-settings. This, in my opinion, is where I shine - seeing all the details coming together and walking through the space prior to guests arrival. In honor of shining said light - here's some things about me and my company. I struggle with these posts, honestly - like what should you share that someone else would find witty and interesting? I'm constantly carrying around jumbo lint rollers because my color of choice is black and my two dogs are giant, white fluffy Great Pyrenees mixes. I'm absolutely useless until I've walked them in the mornings and they whine and complain at me until we go, the weather be damned. I have a four-year-old son, Harrison, who is my entire world - he's an absolute wild child who is doing his best to be his own independent creature and my husband and I are just along for the ride. I never leave home without my sunglasses and losing them last week really threw me for a loop. I bring a journal with me most places in case I feel the need to use it even though usually it just sits on my desk next to me. We celebrated Elizabeth + Alex's union a few weeks back. Elizabeth did a few things that were outside of the norm, that turned out beautifully for her wedding. Just because something is tradition does not necessarily mean it has to be followed closely, especially if there is an alternative you'd like to try. After all, it is your wedding and you want to make sure you look back with no regrets! Per the bride: "There were a few things that I am especially proud to have included in the wedding. Rather than the standard 'giving away the bride', we adjusted it to 'who takes this bride to join their family' and vice versa, involving both of our families in the moment rather than only my father. We asked a close friend to play piano for our wedding and he played some of our favorite songs throughout the processional rather than having our DJ playing something. We didn't focus on organizing tables at dinner by family grouping, but instead mixed up the seating chart with common threads like a passion for Alabama football, or shared life experiences. By the time the dance floor opened, our guests had bonded and as a result, our wedding photos from the evening were fantastic, with people we knew from different walks of life celebrating together."
One of my favorite moments on a wedding day is when setup is done - once I've straightened chairs, tucked linens, done a final "spot sweep" (restaurant industry peeps know what I mean 😘) and there's this sense of calm in the room as the photographer and I shoo everyone out for the final room shots - this is when I like to sit back and breathe. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This is when your reception feels especially magical - it's the calm before the storm, the anticipation building, the mic checks and instruments tuning as the room empties and everything is still. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This is where the magic happens and I love it 🥰⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #themason #themasondallas #themasonwedding #fortworthbride #dallasbride #dfwbride #fortworthwedding #dallaswedding #dfwwedding

I don't know about y'all - but I am all about a gorgeous fireplace. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ While I love our home, our sweet 65-year-old Mid-Century Ranch Style is missing a fireplace and a mantle, which makes hanging stockings a challenge every year. Venues with ornate details are some of my favorite. Let me tell you why. It’s the looking in closely to the attention to details. The slight hints of Old World architecture.
