I was so excited to dine at Palazzo Salato @palazzosalato when I went for work dinner 🤩! Especially they’re by the same group who owned Ragazzi (& I still haven’t been to Ragazzi!). We got the Set Menu and love that it lets you try a few different dishes. Everything was absolutely delish 🤤. However I felt that the servings could’ve been a bit bigger (I’m not sure if it was due to set menu, or if the servings would be bigger when ordering as a la carte). My fave dishes 😍 from the night were: Stracciala with anchovies (not pictured), Beef tartare, and Charcoal triangoli of beetroot ricotta. The steak & roast potatoes were good for too 👍! I recently tried this slightly hidden Japanese restaurant in CBD, Sakuratei @sakuratei_sydney when catching up with @misspiggyexplores & Xixi 😘😘. The location is a bit hidden: you can enter it from Clarence St or York St (where you take stairs to get to the restaurant). They have lunch specials on Tuesdays-Fridays between $17-$29 (donburi for takeaway starts from $15 incl. miso soup). The 3 Dish Special Lunch menu at $29 provide amazing value as you can choose 3 dish (from sashimi, tempura, grilled scallops, grilled oysters, etc) and it came with edamame, rice & miso soup 😮! Ate dumplings at Smiling Dumplings Hawker this time. 🥟 Wonton in chilli sauce. I don’t rate it. It was boiled/steamed ahead (maybe 15-30mins before) rather than on the spot. You can tell how fast it is (ie you sit down and it’s ready lol), the skin integrity is bit weak and it’s not steaming hot. 🍜 Of course I got the wat Dan hor fun (flat rice noodles with egg gravy and prawn, choy sum and fish cake). I was pleasantly surprised how fast and tasty this was. I don’t know what they doing to get it out this fast but keep doing it. Con is the price. I don’t know what it is but I’m often attracted to a Reuben sandwich. I was aimlessly walking around with no idea what to eat for lunch but I just knew I wanted to sit down somewhere. I happened past Stacked and got attracted by their modern and new menu screens where you can see it from outside the store (so don’t need commit coz I’m outside 😂) The Reuben came fresh off the grill and super toasty. I liked that. The beef and sauerkraut filling tasted good together. The only thing I was wishing for was a less crunchy bread? I wanted a soft rye bread instead. Anyways I was pretty happy to find a spot to sit at lunch and actually find lunch (sometimes I can’t make up my mind and nek minutes it’s almost an hour). A few weeks ago, we had lunch at Devon Cafe @devoncafe to celebrate @time_and_dine bday 🥳. I think one of the reasons we chose this place was to try the Pandan French Toast Katsu 💚, which tasted amazing as it looks 😍!! If you love pandan, you must try this! It is sweet & perhaps too much for 1 person to have this (although I may be able to have this by myself lol). Matcha Wasabi Soft Serve?? I was curious so had to try it the other day 😄 & I had the level 3 one. It was interesting 🤔 & the creamy Hokkaido soft serve was perfect to offset the wasabi flav. It also gave me an idea of having soft serve with wasabi peas though, I think it would be perfect 👌(I’ll def let you know if I do!) I also went to Oh Matcha @ohmatcha.sydney today to catch up with @misspiggyexplores to try their Mochi Soft Serve! Oh my, the mochi is so good here, so thin & stretchyyy!! This was even better than expected actually - they bring out some of everything to try first and then you can just ask for more of whatever you like later.
