Mom’s scarf ftw💖 My mom was my first “client” when I was 12 y/o, asking my opinion for what to wear to her major events and even while I worked in cosmetics retail for 20 years, she trusted and turned to me for her style needs. Going through her battle with Alzheimer’s was the hardest thing I’ve experienced and it also got me to where I am, living out my childhood dream of being a wardrobe stylist🥰 Forever grateful for mom and styling with her pieces not only reminds me of her, letting her style shine on but also of the inspiration, mindset shifts, patience, permission, growing with the bad while enjoying the good that got me here, now. I can’t believe it has already been a month since the Tempe Fashion Week Spring ’22 show🥳In honor of my very first show, this week I wanted to share more about my collection, the inspiration for it, the details for each look and how it came to be🥰 Tempe Fashion Week SS22 was centered around sustainability and the theme for my collection was Earth Tones. My concept for the collection was Shop Your Closet but Make It Fashion✨🫶 and only featured pieces from my + my bf’s @stephen.padlab closets and sustainably made pieces from local, women-owned boutique @julesandjc After the slow fashion journey I personally have been on the last two years, showcasing a sustainably styled collection felt like a perfect fit I was beyond excited to be part of. A lover of trends, fashion and sustainability, it was a long, fun, empowering and sometimes frustrating journey finding new and modern ways of wearing staple pieces I already owned. After leaving my fast fashion shopping days behind and only shopping my closet for a year, I started relying more on my fun jewelry pieces + accessories, wearing different color combinations and looking for different ways of styling traditional pieces like the classic white button down, lace up sandals, or mixing up coord’s to feed my trendy, need-a-new-‘fit cravings. The goal with my collection is to inspire new ways of thinking about sustainable style and how to elevate the key pieces in your closet. Hi, I’m Sarah, fashion stylist for brands, editorial and personal styling and I have waited my whole life to say that🤍I committed last year to pursuing my dream job as a stylist and am so grateful for all the opportunities and proud of the accomplishments 2020 had for me. I wanted to be a stylist since I was about 15 but limited myself for years believing I wasn’t good enough, wasn't talented enough, didn't know where or how to start, there’s no money in it, I didn't get the right schooling, [insert limiting belief here and I had it] and so for years all those things remained true. Until I started to do the work to heal, reframe my beliefs and negative self talk, and boom! Almost magically, I was becoming the stylist I always dreamed of. Don’t get it twisted, while the boom is for added effect, it’s only after doing the work (and continuing to do it everyday) over the last few years, learning the lessons, breaking down old thought patterns and still working on building new ones, that I was consciously ready to step into my stylist shoes, and into my power🙌🏻✨ Like any first year of business, there were tons of challenges, mistakes, and freak outs, but I never questioned whether to keep going. That wasn’t even a thought. I questioned how I was doing things and if they aligned and still do but I’m in love with everything about my journey so far. The good, the bad and the ugly.
