And here they are. The packaging is as minimal as it can be. I was very conscious that I wanted there to be very little packaging waste. The product cards are tied to each bar with home compostable and recyclable raffia ribbon. The cards themselves are uncoated so can also be home composted or recycled. There will also be a small ingredients booklet included with each order. I was experimenting with some gift wrapping ideas and loved what I came up with. This is a box of lovely products wrapped in kraft paper with flowers stamped on by hand. It's finished with two colours of raffia ribbon - this one was purple but I plan on making a green one too. All can be full home composted or recycled and 100% plastic free. A new batch of Tangerine and Calendula soap ready and sliced and waiting for packaging. Tangerine essential oil is fresh and zesty and its reported benefits are its uplifting and mood enhancing properties as well as being anti bacterial and antifungal. So this is a complex one, don't worry if you didn't guess it. This is our Litsea, Tangerine & Cedarwood bars, a very citrusy vibe with some earthy notes in there. There's matching scented conditioner bars to compliment this solid shampoo. We'll be selling our standard sized 60g bars as well as some mini 20g bars so you can try them out. These are suitable for all hair types and we've had some wonderful feedback from testers. They're soap scrap bags and each reusable sisal soap bag will contain 100g of soap scraps from the main bars that would otherwise go to waste. These are going to form part of my Zero Waste Range and will be priced more cheaply than my full bars. ok.... bad news. I've had a bit of trouble .... No, I can't tempt fate with an April fools post! Here's the fourth of six launch bars, our Clary Sage & Eucalyptus bar. Scented with essential oils and coloured with kaolin clay and indigo powder. This natural dye is harvested from a legume, part of the bean family, from the supplier @annegeorgesfabrictreasury and, although we need to get it from far away, we only need a tiny amount to make this fabulous colour. I'm hoping to be out selling my products at local markets from the end of May and will be posting which lovely artisan/craft markets I'll be attending on my website and social media accounts. I'm also wanting to offer a click and collect option to save local people the cost of postage. I make all my products in a very modest spare room in my house so I don't have a fancy studio or workshop location customers could collect from. I thought the option of collecting from my stall at a local artisan/craft market might be that bridge between. Some exciting printing arrived! The new business cards are here! It's very important to me that my company is a plastic free company, meaning all the products I make and accompanying labelling and packaging we provide is all free from plastic. I honestly had no idea when I started this venture how prevalent plastic is, it seemed to be in everything! These business cards are uncoated, which means they can be recycled or home composted as there is no plastic coating protection on them. They are also printed with plant based inks and have such a lovely texture to the card stock. One guess was spot on (Nean Ingle!). This is the third of our six launch bars and it's called Simple Suds. Just our unscented and uncoloured recipe of olive oil, coconut oil and cocoa butter. Some essential oils have allergens but this one is allergen free so everyone can use it. Another accessory I've been buying stock of are these natural sisal soap bags. With a bamboo toggle on the string, one of our soap bars can be fully sealed inside. It creates a lovely exfoliation feeling on the skin and lathers up the bars really quickly. This makes our lovely soap bars last even longer. Make sure you hang up so the soap can fully drain and dry out between uses. The sisal bag itself can be machine washed and reused again and again. I know one guess was almost there! This is my second of six launch bars I've been making stock of last weekend. Here's the Patchouli & Grapefruit bar, scented with essential oils and coloured with a mixture of green clay, organic chlorella powder and activated charcoal powder. Green has been a particularly difficult colour to stop from fading in sunlight and after rigorous testing, it's finally a stable colour! I've started stocking more natural accessories so I've got plenty when I launch. Here's a lovely natural loofah on a rope. These are great for exfoliation and fit perfectly within our company ethics. They are fully machine washable and come as a flat product, to save postage space and cost. When you get one, simply submerge in water for up to 20 minutes and they will become the traditional non-flat cylindrical shape. To prolong their life hand to drain and allow to fully dry out between uses.
