The Pelican lake tournament last weekend didn’t go as planned! Ended up with 11 1/2 pounds which put us in 8th place! Absolutely crushed them in practice but with a huge windstorm on Friday and colder water temps in our areas it moved our fish off the bank. This store is amazing. They have fishing, hunting, and camping gear. They also carry clothing and military surplus. There is also an Ace Hardware store inside the building too. They carry dehydrated meals in pouches too and candy. I was totally blown away by all that is there. Their staff is very friendly and helpful as well. An Ogden official says the city will pay the $300,000 outlined in a federal agreement to help cover the massive $5.09 million cleanup effort in 2019 at the former Swift building site in west Ogden. A Smith and Edwards official says the Farr West retailer will pay another $2.29 million of the total. The Ogden Redevelopment Agency, the city entity that owns the land — now vacant and meant for future redevelopment — “will not contest and will pay,” said Brandon Cooper, who heads the Ogden Community and Economic Development Department. The new expense, meantime, will increase the total the City of Ogden has spent to buy, clean and clear the 7.22-acre site since fiscal year 2018 to $6.69 million. Smith and Edwards Co., which owned the building when much of the contamination occurred that prompted the 2019 U.S. Environmental Protection Agency-led cleanup, is on the hook to cover $2.29 million of the $5.09 million. Craig Smith, the company president, said the firm — operator of a sporting goods and Western tack store in Farr West — will cover the amount. I have some amazing friends! Last November I was in my office working. Across the hall KSL TV was holding our annual Primary Children’s Telethon. I struck up a conversation with a guy passing by. His name is Larry Sell. Turns out he and his daughter Emma were involved in a car accident last April and Emma is now confined to a wheelchair. They were there to support the telethon. I asked Larry if Emma had ever expressed the desire to hunt. She had. I immediately called my buddies with our Kings Camo turkey hunt and asked if we could add one more kid. They didn’t hesitate. Smith and Edwards donated her a shotgun and Wednesday this kid will go on her first hunt. Today, these same guys along with some very generous donations gave two of the kids, including Emma an Action Traction chair! Basically a wheelchair with tracks like a tank. This will help Emma experience the outdoors, go to girls camp and just be able to go where she hasn’t been able for the past year. A shout out to Justin at Utah Airguns who gave both kids an air rifle. There is still good in this world. These guys are proof! #smithandedwards #utahairguns #kingscamo

It takes a lot of very dedicated people to put on a #worldclass #rodeo . Featured here, to either side of the amazing Gena Black, is Craig Smith (left) of #smithandedwards and Dave Hogan (right) of #wadmancorporation. Craig is our finance director and works hard to keep our financials and accounting in good standing. He was a #rodeocowboy himself and we’re pretty sure he could still wrestle a bull or two. Dave, another past rodeo Cowboy, handles our projects and logistics. Basically Dave spends his time helping with our offseason stadium needs and is usually running himself ragged in the arena during the rodeo. (Hint: he’s the guy speeding back-n-forth on the ATV and driving the tractor during the show).
