Very much enjoying the baby bubble, although in disbelief that it has been 7 weeks (and 2 days 🥹) that Beatrix has been with us! It feels like she's always been here, but also like it's 5 minutes...can anyone relate?! It’s easy to think that others have it all figured out, that they know something we don’t, we’re the only ones winging it, But guess what: EVERYONE is just figuring it out as they go. The difference? Some decide to take the leap, imperfect and scary as it may be. What IS real, is the opportunities we create by taking action, however small, right now. The perfect moment to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The next best moment? Today. It’s not about waiting for clarity or certainty or a sign from beyond, it’s about moving forward with what you have, picking up tools along the way, learning as you go, and adjusting your course as you need to. So, if you’re waiting for the universe to give you a green light, consider THIS your sign. Ever caught yourself working to the bone, desperate for a break, only to fill your free time with… more ‘work thoughts’? Yeah, that stupid annoying habit! Guilty. Turns out I don’t switch off. Here I am, on a supposed break, mentally overhauling our website, branding, that freebie, our email automations, the entire social media strategy, the next 4 projects and planning out the framework for the so far not started book I’m supposed to be taking summer off to write. Now I want to make it clear, time away from work is SO important! I’ve still turned my home spotless, transformed the garden, made countless trips to the tip, bullied the kids into spending time with me, tackled the ‘big shop’, embraced the Easter frenzy, and there’s been an explosion of baked goods. But my mind is on a relentless loop back to ‘work’. Feeling guilty used to be my default mode. Why can’t I just bloody chill like everyone else? Is this lack of balance making me a terrible parent? What’s wrong with me? But now I refuse to let my brain go down that path of self-criticism. I’m absolutely owning my identity as an entrepreneur, a visionary type, a creator and an ideas person who doesn’t fit the conventional mould - that’s my power. Our power. I flipping thrive in this ‘free’ time, not because I’m lounging, but because it’s when my brain goes into overdrive, piecing together all the good ideas. That’s when the magic happens! So if you’re like me, struggling to veg, don’t beat yourself up. We’re not machines, there’s no switch to turn us off! Dreaming and scheming is what makes us and our ideas great! And it’s what sets you as a visionary entrepreneur apart from being just a bog standard, run-of-the-mill business owner. So, who’s in this boat with me? Any fellow dreamers ready to own this trait?
