The cup is coated with a pearl luster that gives it a subtle iridescent glow. However for the middle class aristocracy, it wasn't necessarily the mean of showing off their social status. The women were very particular about the manner of making tea, the selection of tea utensils, and the management of the tea ceremony, and the space for enjoying tea and the flow of time must've been place of entertainment fused with fashion. In the Afternoon Tea, the cup and saucer was a jewelry that was an extension of a woman's fingertips. It's important for me that the vessels I make have a function as a use, but are completed when they are held in the hand. It is not a simple matter to say that if something with the function of a vessel cannot become art, it should be abandoned.
