so.. a month ago what started out as a proposed intimate dinner of 4 snowballed into an afternoon tea for 8! that i was cooking for! also #nasilemak! which i’ve never made (cos who needs to make nasi lemak when you can buy on every corner street back home).. for myself let alone a party! anyway after a meticulous month’s planning and ALOT of winging, it ended up being a wonderful afternoon of nasi lemak trivia, second helpings and laughter. unforch there is no documentation of process cos i was too anxious and deep into prep: 09:30-14:00 my goodness how do makciks do this?? it’s soo much work! also frying keropok is such an oily affair omggg. dis menu sis: • welcome drink of canned longan syrup on the rocks • grazing starters of keropok ikan and cucur bawang • mains of nasi santan (i put jc in charge of this, we found frozen vietnamese pandan leaves at the local asian market), kari ayam (kak lizar for the win), sambal udang (youtube and ketchup), boiled 🥚, 🥒, oceanpapa’s ikan bilis kacang and sambal • dessert of graham cracker ready crust filled with yeo’s kaya topped with huey&wah marshies toasted under the broiler sometimes you don’t know how much you’ve achieved until you look back.. as i was washing up it dawned upon me what a culinary milestone this has been for the books. i believe everyone had a good time but most of all i did jc proud. 🍛 #comedinewithshelby #shelbyxLA

dayum, hands down one of my best meals this trip! big bang theory gave me the impression that the @cheesecakefactory was a casual lil eatery like dave’s deli but it’s actually a semi-posh family-friendly date night-ish joint. it’s very popular and the servers are cekap max not to mention ultra friendly. their menu was extensive but everything we ordered ( #gumbo and #shepherdspie) was spot on delicious. they were so efficient in refilling our drinks and bread basket that by the time the mains arrived i had not a millimetre of stomach left for their cheesecake. i will return 🙌🏼 p.s. this is their #palmsprings outlet. they have ducks!
