But, if you think about when you started your business, most of us just ran full force ahead and decided figure it out as we went - so what happened to that?? ✨ That trust in ourselves to make something work. ✨ That trust to invest in ourselves and our future. ✨ That ability to block out the noise and stay focused. ✨ The ability to problem solve and pivot and chalk it up to learning. Your business is a lot more flexible and resilient that you think. One wrong move, one wrong investment, one unhappy client - it won’t break everything you have built. But, you want to know what will break it all down? Fear. Fear that you allow to hangout and dictate each move you do or don’t make. A few years ago, I would have answered 🖤 … we were on long break and my engagement was dead. But, what I realized was that even though the app had always been changing and evolving, I was more of the problem. 🧠 I was overthinking 🧠 I was worried about what others thought 🧠 I thought if I didn’t keep up with trends, my marketing wasn’t worth my time 🧠 I let my ego take over when my engagement was dead So, what allowed me to change and get back on the social media train 🚂 I realized a few things… ✨ Not every piece of content would perform well, but that was normal and okay. The goal was creating with intention. ✨ Not every trend needed to be followed, a trend is a trend for a reason - it comes and goes. ✨ Marketing is so much more than instant gratification of likes or comments, it’s meant to be evergreen and serve your clients now and in the future. ✨ Marketing didn’t need to be all consuming or stressful, it could be fun and simple. This is when I began creating a true content plan for my business. One that was rinse and repeat. One that wouldn’t make me feel like breaking up with IG just because a post flopped. A plan that gave my content a long shelf life and had purpose. If you are in rut with IG, it’s time to ask yourself why. ❓ Are you putting too much pressure on your content? ❓ Are you stressing yourself out with trends? ❓ Are you spending hours creating each day with little return? It’s time to simplify without losing impact… which is why I Created Beyond the Portfolio. The content creation plan for photographers who want to create content with ease, confidence, and have a game plan they can use for years to come that is rinse and repeat. Have you snagged yours yet? David and Jennifer Renwick drove 11 hours on Friday to get to Yellowstone to photograph the aurora in their most-loved national park. They were rewarded with a spectacular light show. 3 years ago this month, I left my full time career as a teacher to become a full time photographer. But inside of me something was building that I couldn’t ignore- as I saw many photographers experience burnout year after year, after I myself went through the worst year drowning in it myself, I knew the teacher inside of me was meant to help. For the first full time year of my business, I made it my mission to learn everything I could about burnout and create what seemed to be its opposite: BALANCE. It took me an entire year to summon the courage to create this page, and now with help from my coach I have created a course, 3 masterclasses and have helped several photographers with my visibility coaching. Vandaag is het 5 mei, bevrijdingsdag. Een dag die maar eens in de 5 jaar een nationale feestdag is. Ironisch, want het duurde destijds 5 jaar om Nederland na de bezetting te bevrijden. Inmiddels leven we langer in vrijheid dan Nederland ooit is geweest. De vrijheid die ervoor zorgt dat we niet hoeven te vrezen voor ons leven. Dat bruidsparen buiten de landsgrenzen kunnen trouwen én dat hun geliefden meekunnen, ongeacht religie of afkomst. Dat ik vrij ben om die bruiloften te fotograferen, zonder dat ik een visum moet aanvragen en onzekerheid ervaar of ik wel die bruiloft mág vastleggen. Niet door het bruidspaar, maar door een overheid. Vrijheid is een groot goed. De vrijheid waar onze voorvaderen voor vochten, baanden een weg vrij voor mij om te doen wat ik wil. Wat ik leuk vind, waar ik goed in ben. Inmiddels al 6(!!) jaar. Want ik vergeet mijn eigen oprichtingsdatum continu, maar 2 mei 2018 is inmiddels 6 jaar en 3 dagen geleden. Het leven is te kort om dingen te doen die je niet leuk vindt, je hebt de vrijheid om te doen waar je hart sneller van gaat kloppen. Pak die kansen en gebruik die vrijheid! Onze grootvaders zullen op de barricade staan te klappen voor ons. Dat weet ik zeker. En om die 6 jaar Kaylee Fotografeert te vieren een compilatie van spiegel/liftselfies, moeilijke yogaposes, net-doen-alsof-je fotografeert-poses en niet-fotogrageer-poses. Ik had het niet kunnen doen zonder alle bruidsparen en iedereen die in me geloofde en me steunde.
