-- Explorer -- Although it's not obvious by looking at them, #nudibranchs do have eyes! Set just under the upper layer of skin, their photoreceptors are only capable of discerning between light and dark as far as we know. They do most of their navigating in relative darkness, and use their #rhinophores - the two stalks at the front of the body - which can 'smell' the #ocean around them. -- Enter the Dragon -- The ocean is home to creatures that simply defy the imagination and no matter how often I visit, I always seem to find something new. This is Pteraeolidia ianthina, sometimes known as a Blue Dragon #Nudibranch. The curling tendrils that emerge all the down its long body are gills, allowing it to breathe as it slowly makes its way across the floor of the #coral #reef.
