Autumn. The leaves are falling, the air is cooler, and the heaters are firing up. This is the time we notice the change in our skin too. Eczema flare-ups, dryness, flaking, & unbalanced breakouts start happening as we adjust to the new climate. You may need to tweak your skincare routine to keep your skin healthy and glowing! I suggest: 🍂 Switching to a richer moisturiser! Cooler weather dries out your skin, so switching to a more nourishing product keeps your skin hydrated! If you are very sensitive, I recommend MV oxygen O2 antioxidant moisturiser or the @mvskintherapy soothing rose protective moisturiser. Look for a moisturiser with a barrier function to lock that moisture in, keeping you dewy throughout the day. 🍂 A hydrating mask! Scroll through the phone, fall into rabbit hole. 6.45 am: Get out of bed to the thunder of kids running down stairs. Feed dog, feed kids, prep lunchboxes, mentally prep my day, mentally prep dinner for the next few days, throw on load of washing, throw dried washing load from dryer to the ‘washing room’/ spare room, add ‘sort washing mountain and put away in drawers’ to tonight’s to-do list, yell out ‘get dressed ‘ 10 times. 7.45: Roll out yoga mat (can squeeze in 20 mins) 7.50: Gets bitten on the left boob by puppy whilst in downward dog. Kid number 1 informs me he needs to be at school for band rehearsal at 8. Roll up the yoga mat. 7.55: Drop number 1 at school. Accidentally look at myself in the rearview mirror. Argh! 8.05: Rush into shower; hubby is there. Fierce words of encouragement including: ‘Hurry up’ 8.10: Shower. Ahhhh me time. 8.15: ‘Muuuuuummm where is my shoe!!!!!’ 8.17: Get dressed; fastest makeup session ever 8.25: Wrestle shoe from the dog that belongs to kid 2. It has now been ripped. Find bright red non-school standard shoes and tell kid 2 to wear these today for a treat. Mental note, ‘buy new school shoes’. 8.35: Time to go! Jump in the car. 8.43: STILL waiting for kid 2 to get in; what is he doing????? Oh, toilet time 🙄 great. 8.46: Finally out of driveway, do a drive-by as kid 2 commander rolls out of the car (I hope that wasn’t witnessed, but it was seen by 5 mums and the Asst. Principal) 8.55: Chug coffee 9.00: Arrive at spa, ready to work. Shit, forgot to eat. I’m sure this is similar to most mums’ morning ritual, which is just the first few hours of the day & counts as a relatively smooth morning. Mums, we are amazing! You are amazing! You make the world work properly & are sacred space holders for so many people. So, what do you need in a skincare product? 🤔 I feel it’s essential to understand the true meaning of these skincare terms, especially when all skin types are different. Today we are focusing on Clarifying or Purifying. 🌿 If you are someone who experiences excessive oil production, is prone to breaking out or has a bit of blackhead activity going on, all you want is FRESH, CLEAN and CLEAR skin! Look for the word clarifying in your product descriptions. 🌿 Clarifying removes old skin cells, dirt, and excess oil from the skin's surface. Another word to look for is purifying, which essentially does the same thing, bringing the skin back to a clean and purified, crystal-clear state. 🌿 There is a misconception out there that if your skin is oily, you need to strip the oil away completely and many harsh products out there promise to clear the skin this way – BUT! 🌿 What do you think happens when you strip the skin of oil? The skin produces MORE oil until you end up with a dehydrated, sensitive, flaky, oily mess! 🌿 Your intelligent dermal system begins making more oil to compensate, so you keep stripping, exfoliating and scrubbing. You need a little oil. The trick is to go for a balancing and clarifying product. Luckily, we’ve got you covered.
