Yesterday marked the completion of my 100 day project (although I may shoot for a year). 100 days of consistently spending at least 20 minutes (many days significantly longer) engaged in some form of fiber arts. I gave up on daily documentation a little over a month in because I just didn’t have the capacity for it and I decided the making was the heart of the project, not the documenting. Maybe next year my health and energy will allow me to better document my making. Maybe this time next year I’ll actually be a year and 100 days into making daily. Only time will tell. In my 100 days I knit: -over 50% of a sweater for my husband -a handful of more of rounds on my shift sweater -a handful of hats , 6 and a partial, maybe more? -5.5 traveler cowls -the start of the attune shawl I spun approximately 72ozs of yarn and plied quite a few singles I had previously spun. I have a good chunk of handspun with projects planned including 7 skeins for a night shift shawl (pictured). If I count singles and plying I spun over 7 miles of fiber. I actually finished a blanket 😱🤩 who even am I?! I modified the #nightshiftshawl pattern by @dreareneeknits to increase on both sides, and then switched to decreasing on both sides once I reached the halfway point, which made this very cool on-the-bias blanket (I made a largish lap blanket size). I used up a ton of worsted weight scraps, which felt soooo rewarding to clean up all those little leftover yarn balls 🤭 There was about 30 seconds of peace between weaving in the last end and the blanket being confiscated by my 4-year-old…at least it’ll be well-loved 🤷♀️ #knittersofinstagram
Day 145 of 366: Another shawl I finally took pictures of for #finishedfriday , it's the #nightshiftshawl by #andreamowry . The pattern is great and straightforward, but I just felt a bit disappointed by the yarn - the different skeins were all theoretically supposed to be two strands of the colorway twisted together at an offset so that you get a lot more variegated, and these just... mostly didn't have that. Work in progress. I’m about half way through the Nightshift shawl by drea renee knits, using 6 different shades of Countrywide 8 ply Mandala. The variegated shades of the Mandalas make the fairlisle pattern more interesting than solid colours. This pattern and yarn would be an excellent mothers’ day gift! If you want me to make up a ‘kit’ with the colours I’m using and the pattern, which I will purchase each time a customer wants it, let me know. The wool is $96, the pattern, printed out, will be $10 and needles, if needed, will be extra. I’m using 5mm straights but will need to move to circulars soon for the widest part of the shawl. Sometimes, you just gotta cast on a classic pattern that you know and love, for comfort reasons. This is my third #nightshiftshawl and I am not sorry about it one bit! The pattern is originally knit using different combinations of SpinCycle yarn, but I really appreciate the simplicity of using a Main Colour, and a Contrast Colour for the flecks. It just works so well, and I love the way the rows unfold. I quietly spun up this 100 grams of Untreated Merino Combed Top, and with these colours, I really didn’t know what to expect. Pairing it alongside some beloved @alleycatyarns from my stash, this low contrast combo is really making my heart sing. The pattern is super easy to remember, making this project a great companion while on the go. And watching the colours of the handspun unfold makes me say ‘one more row!’ with this super addictive mosaic stitch. If you haven’t knit one already, I highly recommend this shawl pattern! A fan favorite this weekend at Wollen was the nightshift shawl designed by Andrea Mowry! The shawl is knitted up using several skeins of multicolored plied merino yarn from spincycle yarn, our sample in Schoppel Wolle Edition 3. Very fun to knit! The project uses a sideways shawl construction with i-cord edging, causing the edges to lay flat after blocking. The colorwork design is created by working in a different colorway every 2 rows. yarn crawl through amsterdam! i was so excited to visit @hooksandyarn_amsterdam, @de.afstap.amsterdam, and @stephen.and.penelope last week. i loved the yarn displays at hooks and yarn, and i bought the SOFTEST and squishiest alpaca yarn there. de afstap was so cozy and the loft had a knitting group when I visited and it was so adorable! i was able to purchase yarn dyed in the netherlands there in the most lovely dusty rose shades. and finally, stephen and penelope was a dream. so many vibrant colors 😻i took advantage of purchasing from the west knits yarn collection there. i’m currently knitting a #nightshiftshawl with the yarn purchased from each of these stores, so hopefully by the end of my trip i’ll have my own personal amsterdam shawl 🖤 #yarn #amsterdam #hooksandyarnamsterdam #stephenandpenelope #deafstap #yarncrawl #localyarnstore #knitting #knitter #knittersofinstagram #handdyedyarn #indiedyedyarn

今年編みたいと思ってた #nightshiftshawl を編み始めました。 #spincycleyarns の糸、ふかふかのモチモチで編んでて気持ちいい。指定の色ではないものも混ざっているのですが、どんな感じになるのか楽しみです。糸は2019年にこれを編もうと思って #looplondonyarnshop で買ったものに #amirisu でいくつか追加。（5年も寝かせたのか…アホ…。）15日から東京なので、嵩張るけどこれ持って行こうかなと思っています。 CO #nightshiftshawl designed by @dreareneeknits with dream state by @spincycle_yarns .
