En la última edición de "Truk Nation", Eddie Trunk conversó con Mötley Crüe sobre "Dogs Of War" y las nuevas canciones: Tommy: "Creo que simplemente estábamos con John en la banda y toda la nueva energía que ha traído, estábamos simplemente inspirados para hacer nueva música". Nikki: "No pensamos tan adelante y al estar en una banda, y especialmente una que ha estado tanto tiempo como nosotros, me siento totalmente libre como para llamar a Tommy o a John o a Vince en cualquier momento y decir, 'Tengo esta idea extraña'. Luego nos reunirnos. O si alguien tiene una idea, se trata de reunirse. Pero lo que no hacemos es planificar los próximos 24 meses para lanzar el disco. John: "Este tipo [Nikki] me llamó [y dijo] 'tengo la mejor idea'. Y leyó las letras, les puso música, y lo juro, es lo más pegajoso. No puedes sacarlo de tu cabeza". Nikki: "Estábamos en, ¿fue en Sudamérica o Europa? Todos estaban en la piscina. Leí un artículo sobre la cultura de cancelación. Parte de mi proceso es reactivo a cosas que leo o siento. Estaba escribiendo algo, se lo mostré a Tommy y dijo, 'Tenemos que hacer algo con esto'. Empezamos a bromear detrás del escenario, esa canción se llama 'Cancelled'. Fuimos al estudio para hacer un demo. Tommy estaba como, 'Me encanta esto', tenía esta especie de idea y seguía empujando a John y John creó el riff. Y nos fuimos a casa, estábamos allí para hacer 'Cancelled'. Pero terminamos con esta nueva idea. Y luego fui a casa y estaba viendo 'The Handmaid's Tale'. Y había una línea en la película, una frase 'No dejes que los bastardos te tumben'. Y tuve uno de esos momentos de corriente de conciencia. Entré [al estudio] se los leí y dijeron, 'Eso es'. Y lo montamos muy rápido, se lo enviamos a Vince. Puso las voces y luego lo enviamos a Bob Rock. Él estaba como, 'Tengo que hacer estas canciones’.
