Lobo I have always loved the Czarnian bounty hunter from DC Comics. Especially in the way he was drawn by the legendary Simon Bisley. Lobo is one of those slightly "different" comic book characters. Today when I finished him my daughter asked me who this character was. I started by saying that I love him. Then I quickly proceeded to tell his origin story of how he killed his family and then his entire planet and... I actually got stopped here. She just stared at me "And you love him?". And this is where our conversation about Lobo ended. I guess that actually shows a good point. Why do you like Lobo? Maybe he's one of those characters you hate or love. Anyway... The Process: Colossus 1. Parts 2. Colortest 3. Paints Instantly when the brute scale figures were announced I started to think about doing a tribute to Colossus. Except for the main brute sized parts it took some time to decide on what to use. I found this head I sculpted in the past for Wolf King Customs and thought it would be a good fit. First I was a little worried that a 1.0 sized head would look good on a brute scale but I think it actually works well. The pauldrons I tried a couple of different ones but realised that the big ones that comes with Noveunn Leen gave him the silhoutte he needed. Finally the legs. There are not many brute ones to choose from and I think Colossus really need to have those high boots. I decided to try and fit some standard 1.0 boots and I was surprised how well it worked 😃 The soft goods I think are from the Figura Obscura Monkey King figure. Time for painting. Biggest question was how to paint the "lines" on his body. I decided that the long time it would take to carve out the lines with an exacto-knife would be worth it in the end and so I started carving. If you want to try this then please be careful (Aouch!). Priming all his body parts black and then use a leadbelcher metallic spray slightly from above allowed the cracks to remain black and also gave him some nice shadows. Colossus The big, strong and kind-hearted mutant Peter Rasputin has always been my favorite Marvel character (second only to Captain America). Well this isn’t the most elaborate of customs but Hera’s staff has always bothered me. She is one of my top 5 legions figures but she has a difficult time holding her beautiful staff. This was a pop & swap I did recently but didn't enter it into the contest. It's an homage to Ommadon, voiced by James Earl Jones. For the contest we could use up to three figures with no custom parts or paint. I felt the vibe on this was great but since it was mostly a red robe it wasn't a 'wow'. Ahsoka Tano The former Padawan of Anakin Skywalker is one of the Jedi we as fans have seen and heard the most about. This is a gift for one of my very dear friends, Len LaGuardia. He is the person I thank the most for helping me develop my artistic hobby of 3D sculpting into a business. I am so grateful to have worked with Len at Wolf King Customs @wolf_king_customs but even more grateful for his friendship. Len is a guy who puts others before himself and never asks for anything in return. Taking one of Len's favorite characters and making a Legions Tribute took some time.
