Did you know that a toucan's beak: 🐦 Can be up to 4x larger than their heads 🐦 Is actually hollow and light weight, despite the size 🐦 Can help them reach food, maintain body temperature, and fly Toucans have extensive requirements as pets, as they are very high energy birds that require a large amount of space. Although they are very intelligent, they can be much tougher to train due to their shortened attention spans. Much research is needed before investing in the enrichment and care for these exotic birds. Lets talk about the lifecycles a little bit. Heartworms are only transmitted by a mosquito after it has bitten an infected animal. That mosquito then infects other animal when they bite them. Heartworm prevention is only effective during the larva development stage for both cats and dogs. Once we are past the larva development stage; heartworm treatment is required in dogs but unfortunately there is no treatment available for cats.
