Just a heads up and a look in my brain. One day my brain wonders in dutch, but most of the time it's in English. Today it's English. For the past few weeks my will to running isn't that great. I've been batteling some mental issues. Being tierd, extreemly forgetfull en very light headed, the will to go for a run is far far away. But after making some hard desicions, a doctor visit and some blood tests, today was the day to put on my running shoes. Because I do want to get to the big goal I set, and to the little goals I haven't spoken about yet. The thing is that just a while ago I saw this talk on youtube about dopamine. Dopamine makes you happy. When you set goals and when you achieve them. When you set a big goal and achieve it there will be a big peek. The dude on youtube said the best way to keep motivated is to try not to peek but keep it in balance. The funny thing is that on the podcast (@storror) I listend while running today they briefly mentioned this as well. If you announce a big goal on the internet you already get a big hit of dopamine, and that is true I got a realy big one, announcing it here, @maxstorrorcave said in the podcast something like, if people announce it big it will keep them motivated. And I agree with him. Because I put it out there it keeps me motivated on days where I'm mentally struggeling, to go out and train. Today I set out just to go for a short run, 3km but became 5km just because that little recognition set free some of those lovely dopamine, it made me feel happy, motived enough to give that push and those extra 2km. Coming home seeing I also did a pb, the runners high was completed. Got to remember that the next time I'm struggling to go.
