Her Majesty the Queen presided over an official event to mark "World Rare Diseases Day" organised by the Spanish Federation of Rare Diseases (FEDER) under the theme "In rare diseases, is prevention better than cure?". Although 'World Day' is celebrated on 29 February, FEDER convened the entire association structure on 5 March for this event in order to centralise both the commemoration of this date and its anniversary, bringing together this patient movement that has gone from seven entities in these more than two decades to 418 organisations today. The event focused on recognising the work of the network of rare disease associations as a service provider, social transformer and promoter of research.
