So we hear a lot of talking about North Melbourne but I think it's time we focus on Port Adelaide. They call themselves contenders but they have not proved themselves in 2024 and after a horrific end to 2023 we should be expecting more. They have lost games to quality sides in 2024 losing to both Melbourne and Collingwood. They have also lost to Adelaide in the Showdown and it makes me question whether this team is the real deal. A quality outfit with Horne-Francis, Butters and Rozee in that midfield, a good tall forward line and one of the best key backlines in the competition we expect more. They have a tough run ahead of them with their Geelong, Carlton, GWS and Brisbane in the next 6 weeks. We will learn a lot about Port Adelaide during this time. To be a contender they must win 2/4 of these games but I do feel they will not be starting as favourites in any of those games. They have been disappointing so far this season. I think they will struggle to make the top 4 this year and I do feel they will need to make the top 4 to be a contender especially after last years huge struggle I wanted to say a huge thank you to @districtsportsgfx for making this post for me give them a follow.

He did run today and he ran pretty well, but he will miss this week. “In the last 90 seconds of the game, Jake copped a head knock, unfortunately failed the concussion (assessment) so he will miss this week, too. “’Longy’ unfortunately hurt his knee in a tackle. His PCL has been damaged. With our football season now in full throttle, our teams have been delivering impressive performances that speak to their rigorous training and preparation. The weekend matches were no exception, offering up some truly memorable moments of athletic prowess that have us eagerly anticipating the next round of games. The Under 9s team faced off against Berwick Navy, a side known for their experience and talent, at Berwick Chase Primary School. Our kids gave it their all and displayed great teamwork and determination, led by captains Nate T, Will, Zain, and Joshua. Their coach is extremely proud of the fight they showed until the very end. Next up at Berwick Chase Primary School, our U10s Mixed team never fails to amaze with their incredible teamwork and love for the game. They have shown significant improvement each week, and this week was no exception. Their ability to communicate effectively using their big voices and apply defensive pressure was on full display, resulting in some spectacular marks and memorable goals. Congratulations to all team members on a job well done! The U11s football team had an impressive outing this weekend, as they travelled to Officer and put on a show. Led by Assistant Coach Will, the team displayed their ability to run hard and fast, showcasing their talent on the full field. With this being their first year playing on this size field, the team's performance was all the more impressive, as they cruised to a dominating 2. 0. 12 v 5. 3. 33 victory. The team's progression from strength to strength is clear, and their hard work is paying off. A big well done to the team for such an inspiring performance! ✍️ 7 key talking points from our win against the Bulldogs: - Maturity and Effort. For a young side, we held our own until the very end. Thats what happens when you play 4 quarters full of effort. We could’ve easily faded like we did last week but the young Hawks battled it out until the final siren and our effort was huge. - Dear’s delightful debut. I was one that didn’t want him to debut so early and how glad I was to be wrong. Dear was a huge tick against the Bulldogs kicking 2 goals on debut and having a presence up the ground and in the forward line. Deserves a shot at it next week. - Meek’s hot form. Dominating arguably one of the best rucks in the comp, Meek was also a presence up forward and in defence whilst accumulating 45 Hitouts and booting a goal. His form since he joined the side has been outstanding. - Sicily the warrior. Beaten, battered and bruised, our skipper who popped his shoulder out in the first quarter and injured his ankle in the third quarter, battled on and requested to move up forward in the final quarter where he kicked the winning goal. Scriptwriters couldn’t have written it better. - Backline stood strong. Despite our backline being undersized they still were amazing. Jars who was easily our best on was everywhere racking up 27 touches to go with 12 marks. Scrimshaw was intercepting everything and had the most intercept possessions (10) on the ground. Weddle managed to keep JUH fairly quiet, limiting him to just 4 touches. Frost also did his job on Naughton. Full credits to the backline. - The Wizard’s game saving tackle.
