I’m on my beloved best friends bench with my mermaid tail here. 🧜♀️ This sturdy bench in front of @goodearthnatural in Fairfax, Ca commemorates the short, yet mighty life of @debhubsmithbook who moved mountains in her brief 46 years upon the planet. Scroll through and see the plaque that commemorates her. ❤️🔥 There is a book out about Deb! It is such a joy to see this book ‘The Wind at Her Back: The Life of Transportation Activist Deb A. Hubsmith’ @debhubsmithbook published about my most inspiring friend. It is brilliant and captures her splendor and accomplishments so perfectly! 📕 I usually travel with my tail and love to see the reactions of people when they see it. Many young kids think I’m an actual mermaid (which, shush, I actually am)! It’s all about finding the ✨JOY✨where you can! You can see me here with some of my beloved friends, @anandajperi (Deb’s husband), @aliciarypma @simonsen1661 on darling Deb’s bench. Also in these photos is a treasured photo of @amityhotchkiss (co author of the book about Deb with @anandajperi ) with Deb at my wedding in 2009. Then, a photo of my bestie Deb and I. 🌺 Deb was a bicycle/pedestrian activist. From meeting @michelleobama to passing major transportation bills in Washington, she did the job of 5 powerhouse people with all that she accomplished in her brief flicker of a magnificent life. 🌟 There is a tunnel in Marin County, Ca (Cal Park Tunnel) devoted to her, she was that much of a stellar force! 🚴 She was my best friend for 19 years. She was my rock. We became fast friends at the age of 27 and it was like we grew up together. We were like twins and many people thought we we were sisters! 👯♀️ For me, Deb taught me how to courageously face the cancer experience. (Deb died from Acute Myeloid Leukemia) She bravely faced far more adversity then most people I know. Deb was the one who taught me to #chooseloveoverfear which is my slogan now! ♥️✨♥️ She is gone, but never forgotten. Deb would have loved to play mermaid with me!
