Gallina dei boschi (Laetiporus sulphureus) il fungo che sa di pollo e di crostacei. Come tutti quelli della famiglia delle Polyporaceae, è un fungo con un imenio composto da tubuli e pori (piccolissimi, circolari e colori giallo zolfo), non divisibile dal cappello. È un parassita di latifoglie è facile trovarlo principalmente su legno di alberi vivi di castagno o di rosaceae. L'intero corpo fruttifero è a forma di ventaglio sovrapposto, con colori più o meno sgargianti che variano dal giallo al rosa salmone al rosso arancio. Può raggiungere dimensioni e peso notevoli, dai 20 ai 40 cm di diametro e fino a 45 kg di massa. La carne è tenera e succulenta da giovane, di colore giallo, mentre fragile e marroncina da vecchia. Commestibile solo previa cottura.
