Fat Pad Atrophy ๐ฆถ is the gradual loss of the fat pad in the ball or heel of the foot. This condition is characterized by the thinning of the pad, which exposes the sensitive connective tissues to strain and pressure. As a result, inflammation and micro-tears occur. Calluses and hardened tissue can appear, further exacerbating the problem. Fat pads provide cushioning under a healthy foot, protecting the bones during movement. As the fat is broken down or moved, the pain will start to occur. When you walk, the pressure on the heel is equivalent to around 2.5 times your body weight. This can lead to severe pain that reduces your ability to exercise or even perform simple daily tasks. This could impact your personal life, work, and even your mental health. ๐นSymptoms: Pain in the heel or ball of the foot, especially when walking on hard surfaces with no shoes. Dull ache in the heel. A burning sensation in the heel or ball of the foot that becomes more severe with activity. ๐นRisks: The loss of foot pad cushioning can affect anyone, although the problem usually occurs with age or in people who perform frequent high-impact exercises like running and jogging. As we age, the fat pads begin to shrink and fall. This causes the fat pads to shift around, and make bony features, lines, and wrinkles more visible. Facial ligaments also play an important role in facial aging. Facial ligaments are fibrous bands of tissue between the fat pads that connect the skin to the bone or muscles and hold the skin in place. As the fat pads shrink, the ligaments pull on the sagging skin and cause depressions or grooves between the fat compartments. These grooves break up the previously smooth contours of the youthful face into the hills and valleys associated with an aged face. As you can see above on my client her fat pads and ligaments ageing process have caused her cheeks to loose volume and you can see the hollow in her cheek where this process has happened. Generally in young females the eyebrow sits above the brow bone exposing the skin laterally to the brow arch but as we age the eye socket becomes wider and longer impacting the support structure effecting the position of the brows. This lack of support impacts the brown position allowing it to fall closer to the eyelid. The circulating eye muscle and fat also contributes to this as fat depletes and the muscle weakens. The skin we see on surface also faces changes due to decreased collagen production and environmental factors, ie sun damage. Veronica and I have some things coming up that require some strength and endurance building. Bought this fun little scale for my son awhile back thinking his engineer/data driven brain would like watching his muscle mass numbers go up. It took me some time to work up the courage to face my reality and link up to it myself but I did. Not brave enough to share all of the info, but for some reason this "Metabolic Age" really hit hard. Because I'm not 59!!! Nowhere near it. No amount of expensive elixirs are going to bring that down. (Although I can hook you up with some excellent anti-aging hair and skincare!)
