Did you know? The cornea, the transparent outer layer of the eye, is a remarkable part of our anatomy. What sets it apart is its unique feature: it is the only body part without blood vessels. Instead of blood, the cornea receives oxygen and nutrients directly from the tear fluid on the outside and the aqueous humor (a thick, watery substance) on the inside. This absence of blood vessels contributes to the cornea's clarity, allowing it to play a crucial role in focusing light into the eye. The cornea's avascular nature is a fascinating adaptation, ensuring our vision remains unobstructed. The nose and ears are made up of cartilage, which is a type of connective tissue that can grow and change shape over time. The cartilage in the nose and ears is supported by a network of blood vessels, which helps to nourish the tissue and promote growth. Additionally, the nose and ears contain a large amount of a protein called collagen, which gives them their elasticity and ability to grow. Eyes, on the other hand, are not made up of cartilage. They are primarily composed of muscles and nerves. The size of the eyes is determined by the size and shape of the eye sockets in the skull, which are set at a certain size during fetal development and do not change significantly after birth. It's also worth noting that as we age, the skin and other soft tissues around our eyes can droop and sag, making the eyes appear smaller. #NoseGrowth #EarGrowth #CartilageDevelopment #CollagenInNoseAndEars #Eyesize #FetalDevelopment #SkullShape #AgingAndEyes #DifferentBodyTissues #NoseAndEarFacts #GrowthAndChange #BloodVesselsAndGrowth #CollagenAndElasticity #MusclesAndNervesInEyes #FascinatingBodyFacts #BodyDevelopment #UnderstandingTheBody #GrowthAndAging #BodyTissueComparison #InterestingBodyFacts

Oooooh soooo I had to pluck up the courage to go and get my eyes tested as I’ve noticed I’ve been moving my books/phone screen further from me to see the littlest letters in focus. I think age is setting in. 😞 Anyhow…. It was FASCINATING!!!! They stuck my face against various machines, scanned my eyes, did various tests, showed me the cross section of my eye lens, the retina in the back of the eye. They can tell your health (cholesterol and diabetes risks) from looking at the shape of the blood vessels. This may be standard knowledge for some of you but I was in awe at the images on the screen and the video of the eye and nerves. So once all the fancy stuff was observed (and I asked for copies to be sent to me of the digital images) it turns out my recent couple of years of up close & detailed drawing may have made my eyes deteriorate somewhat. So it’s a good idea for me to wear glasses of a low prescription for reading and close up work (drawing in particular!) and to remember the 20 20 20 rule. (Which is; after 20 mins close up looking, look 20 feet away and blink 20 times. And to remember to read and do my social media updates in decent light! So here I am trying to wear the only glasses I could find in the house to get into the swing of preparing to get some glasses. I’ve never found it easy to buy sunglasses that suit me, I’m thinking I’m not going to find glasses that look right for my shape face that easily so I’ll start with just being conscious of putting something on my face and will go from there. 😳😉 Any advice fire away!! 🤓🧐👓🔎🔍🥽🥸 . . . . . . . #murielsmagpie #closeupart #personalisedartwork #pendrawing #detailedart #eyesdrawing #ageisjustanumber #timeforchange #tinydetailsmatter #tinydrawing #eyetest #fascinatingbodyfacts #retinadisplay
