I’ve had this typeset done for ages now. Even had the cover on it but I had zero inspiration for a cover design. Over the weekend, finally found something that 1) That looked okay with the book cloth and 2) I actually liked (lot of designs and redesigns 😅)! It’s a vibe and I love it! The typeset was done by me and I wanted it to be personalized for me. I knew I wanted flowers but didn’t want roses (at least not on this particular bind). So I added the December birth flowers, Holly and Narcissus, with paper cranes and runes. Hot for Teacher/An Indefinite Amount of Forever by MotherofBulls! This fic had me cackling like a mad woman. Harry in his artist phase alone had me dying 💀 By far one of the funniest stories I’ve ever read so I knew I had to bind it! First ever quarto! TL;DR, Tried printing diy book cloth, works but fades fast, tiny headbands was a mistake. Also check your margins when making quarto typesets because mine were too small. I’m been in SUCH a creative burn out (and still am), but I wanted to bind something so I thought “why not a tiny book”, so I tried typesetting my first quarto and I’ve notice my biggest issue seems to be margins (also because my guillotine is… Well, as it is and not that accurate I tend to have to make multiple cuts. Also first time ever trying DIY book cloth, I DID print on it as you might be able to tell, which was nice when using white fabrics. However, it also tends to fade pretty fast and I actually finished this bind WEEKS ago but haven’t had energy to take photos, and it’s already faded a lot. Oops. I often forget to post things here too. This was how I formatted and then folded the recent quarto of The Library of Alexandria by SenLinYu. This was done in Pages so if you’re not trimming with a guillotine or using Word, you may have to play with your margins. And athenabindery and katyreadsdramione have both cut their signature sheets prior to folding so that’s an option if you don’t have a guillotine. creakyspinebindery pointed out that Bookbinder JS has a “cut line” option you can add before printing your typeset that will help. #bindingfanfiction #fanfictionbookbinding #dramione #dramionefanfic #dramionefanfiction

Choices part 2: the edges and insides. ✨The spine was inspired by more vintage book spines. I wanted an older look. ✨The painted edges were made using a stencil I cut in my silhouette and a gold paint pen! ✨The first endpaper is the Achilles and Patroclus painting referenced in the fic. The rest are from Michael’s. ✨The chapter illustrations are the same as the front designs. Stills of my latest bind, Choices by MesserMoon, available to read for free on ao3. The cover design of these binds went through three solid iterations until I finally landed on this one. This was a blind bind so I drew inspiration from other binds, Achilles, Troy, classic art, and Taylor Swift’s song Bigger Than The Whole Sky, which is so marauders coded. While the HTV might not be perfect I’m very happy with how these turned out in the end. The endpages art was taken from and inspired by messermoon’s tumblr account and I absolutely love it. I wrapped up @jen.anderson.books copies of these today so hopefully we’ll be ready to buddy read these next week! Fun fact some of you may already know: My favorite season of Stranger Things is season 3. It’s such an extreme degree is silliness in a way that brings me such joy. To me it’s the Aliens to season one’s Alien iykyk there are absolutely problems (BIG problems) and things I don’t like, but I also have so much fun watching it. So naturally, I’m WEAK for this re-write of season 3 adding Eddie to the Scoops Troop. Ahoy, Big Boy (available for free on AO3) is a RIDE and so freaking much fun, I love it to bits. The author put in a huge amount of research and thought into making the often nonsense or just plain broken and stupid world of the Duffers feel deep and really intricate. I loved the author notes so much I included them in my typeset as footnotes. Since finishing this bind the author has added an epilogue and I’m not SAYING I want to go back and re-do this entire bind to include that, but if I’m ever in a position to do a trade or giveaway I’ll be looking at this one first lol If it wasn’t already obvious, this is another of my own typesets and honestly I’m really pleased with how this turned out! And lastly please appreciate what I was trying to do with the edges. Is it perfect? My favorite bind to date 🥹 Choices by Messermoon in 4 volumes! I’ll have to make this post a two parter since there is a lot going on. The vinyl design on the front was drawn by me in procreate. I hate drawing hands so doing it four times was certainly a choice but I’m pleased with how it turned out. The book cloth is adhesive leather found on Amazon which I will definitely be using again. It was so easy to work with!
