Newest addition to my guitar collection! Esp 400 series. Early 80’s model. Here’s the story: While in California I saw this listed on FB marketplace for a decent price. I was in Palm Desert at the time with my sis for a few days and the guitar was in LA so I figured it would sell before we left from my sister’s. Fast forward a couple days and the seller dropped the price by $120 and it was still for sale! After @devanzorn and I finished up our first session with @markjacksonmusic & @ianbrendonscott we grabbed some food and then the guitar. Later that night on the drive to our Airbnb Devan was driving and I was checking this thing out. I then played a little phrase which led to Devan and I writing an entire song the moment we got checked in. There was no tv at the Airbnb so we just locked in on creating something special that I CAN’T WAIT to track. The next day we used this guitar during the session and it sounded sooooo sick!! 1/22 pressed in with a drill press, and a 12” radius brass caul. Titebond ready-use hide glue under the fret. Tang nipped away 1/16” from edge to eliminate fret sprout. Fret ends will receive a tiny drop of CA glue, and after dressing, I will fill the end of each slot with epoxy wood putty by Abatron with powdered tint added to match the rosewood. I already can see this fret job is going to be a huge improvement and very precise. Routed the body to fit a humbucker, and installed a @fishmanmusic #fluence system. Replaced the bridge with a @babiczguitars full contact bridge. Also drilled out to Bill's spec, a new cavity plate. Project # 2. An LTD body + ESP neck. The body was a bit of a pain. The neck pocket was too small to fit any standard replacement neck so I had to carefully widen it with a dremel to make it fit. And the stock pickups are larger than standard replacements so the pbass pickup wouldn’t fit in the black pickguard. So I swapped it for a Squier classic vibe pickup (that I have no idea how I acquired). The neck still needs a couple washers under the truss rod nut to get it straighter, but currently it’s got pretty low action with very minimal fret buzz. So definitely playable as-is but can be even better. #espguitars #espbass #ltdguitars #esp400series
ESP-stratan har fått år av gunk och bös bortskottat från ytan. Vi behåller patinan på stallsadlarna och greppbrädan är ju spelad på, så det vill vi inte dölja. Däremot behövde översadeln justeras i sitt spår för D-strängen som låg och skallrade, så den byggdes upp och filades om. Polerade banden, lödde om en tveksam punkt på outputjacket och tog bort skrap i pot och switch. Slutet gott! #esp400series
