Happy Easter! Did you know that in Greece, Easter eggs are only dyed red? 🌼🥚💐🥚 The eggs are dyed red to represent the blood of Christ, as the eggs are a symbol of rebirth. The eggs are boiled and dyed before being used in a delicious bread called tsourike, which is a sweet, brioche-like loaf. They are also used in a children's game called Tsougrisma. The players must attempt to break their opponent's egg by lightly tapping one end of the egg with their own. When the eggs do crack, one player must say "Christos Anesti" (Christ has risen), and the other must respond "Alithos Anesti" (Indeed he has risen), since the cracked egg represents Christ's return. Once a single end of their egg is cracked, the player must use only the unbroken end to crack their opponent's egg. The player to crack both ends of their opponent's egg first, wins. The winner is said to have good luck throughout the following year.
