This means no jumping out of into the car without a command. We also teach them to hold a down stay while in the vehicle. This can make traveling with your dog more relaxing and safe. No one ever plans to get into a car accident, and you want to be sure your dog is in a safe space.

This was a great opportunity to see where we need to focus our attention this next week before her first lesson with her family on Thursday. Gemini, our board and train, has been working on direction from a distance. This is coming along really well. Of course with this is also a variety of distractions. We like to work on duration, distance, and distractions. It is easier for dogs to do a command when directly next to us and with minimal distraction. We like to grow on these three things.

• Both of my Mals are naturals at catching frisbees but obviously with Ruby’s elbow I only ever do it when we’re around sandy beaches. It’s hard to find a perfect frisbee but this @nerf Atomic Flyer is my favourite - its easy to throw, glides nicely and is made of sturdy enough material that it won’t crack or get chewed up as easily.
