This is the second pocket page in a series about our 2016 ride on the Kilimanjaro Safari attraction. I actually batch processed this series of pages: I laid out empty pocket pages (two of each so that I could do fronts and backs at the same time, placed my photos, and chose background papers all together. The next step was to determine where I wanted to place embellishments and start assembling my clusters. Once the clusters were approximately in place, I added my journaling. Here is another pocket page for my 2016 WDW album. This is the first in a series of pocket pages that hold photos from our experience on the Kilimanjaro Safari attraction. I was in photographer heaven! I’ve already made two full 12x12 layouts about this ride, but I still have more to share! I referenced those layouts to use similar papers and embellishments to weave a thread of continuity through this section of the album. In April, I took a little jaunt back into scrapbooking, before the spring whirlwind of activities hit. This is the tiny pocket page I made as a warm up. It is the closing piece to the small section of my WDW 2016 project devoted to our experience at the Akershus Princess Dinner. I kept it pretty simple, since it’s literally small: it’s a 4-up pocket page that I cut down to about 4”x11”. I still managed to fit four photos (small because they were taken in low light) and a lot of words. These pages in my son’s WDW junk journal are about enjoying the nighttime Christmas decorations in Epcot, so I decided to “deck the ball” using die cuts! I cut the Spaceship Earth sphere from some shimmery paper, then cut and assembled several strings of lights to adorn my page. It was so fun to choose the colors! To connect the two pages, I used the EPCOT background die cut as a stencil and lightly inked with aqua and light green to make a background. I added a scattering of stamping for extra texture, and some white paint splatters, too (you know I love those paint splatters). For this @scraps_and_ink_crafts Technique Tuesday post, I added a tip-in to the junk journal I'm making for my son. I wanted a bit of extra room for a special photo and for journaling on the back of the flap. Visit my blog (link in profile) to see step-by-step photos and instructions for how I added the flap. Once my flap was secure in place, I added the rest of my photos and embellishments! I reinforced the inside flap a bit more with some tissue paper. This is one of my favorite junk journaling techniques that I first learned from @megjournals. I spread glue stick on my page and add slightly crumpled tissue paper for a translucent layer of texture. It's also a nice way to tone down a stark pattern. This time on our last evening was just magical. My son didn't want to leave the park until we'd enjoyed the castle projections one last time, and he found the perfect spot for us to sit on the Hub lawn and watch. @scraps_and_ink_crafts palette number 126 was perfect to pick up the colors of the pretzels and the blues of my daughter's Mickey band and son's and husband's shirts. I left out the pink this time! The blocks of color on the palette image were in such a pleasing order that I decided to copy it by making big swipes of paint on my background. The junk journal page base was already stamped with a sentiment, and I added several more layers of stamping and paint splatters over the paint swipes. Some of the stamping is pretty subtle, but I love the effect of the "hidden" Mickey pretzels! There is room for my son's journaling on the tag tucked behind the photo, and I added a Mickey pretzel acrylic piece-- so perfect for this page! I used the Pixie Alphabet die set to cut a little title. Even though my son chose just one photo for this page in his WDW 2020 junk journal album, I still decided to use @scraps_and_ink_crafts sketch number 103, which is a three-photo sketch. I went with a white, silver, and gold color scheme to match the queue area. I left off one of the smaller photos entirely, and I replaced the other small photo with an adorable Small World printed acrylic. I was inspired by the sketch to add some gold Mickey heads to my background by using thick metallic paint through a stencil cut with the Mouse Background die. Since this is a junk journal, I added some extra layers behind my photo, including some music-printed paper to recall the (in?)famous theme song of the ride! In the space for the large title, I layered three cuts of the "A Little Hello" die for some added dimension, but I kept it white so it would be subtle. This month at @scraps_and_ink_crafts, we're spotlighting Halloween, which was the perfect opportunity to create this page in my son's WDW 2020 junk journal about Haunted Mansion. I started by brushing light blue paint on the base page and splattering it with metallic gold paint. I wanted to have some color to set off the big die cut! I used the Haunted Mansion die with some glitter vellum to create a ghostly background under my photo. To the left of the photo, I added a cluster of layers including a scrap of silver paper doily to set off my acrylic embellishment featuring the hitchhiking ghosts-- perfect for this Doom Buggy ride photo! As a final touch, I scattered some Haunted Mansion Pixie dust to form a bit of a visual triangle across the page. Here's another page in the WDW junk journal, this time inspired by @scraps_and_ink_crafts color palette number 106-- but I left out the red! My son and I agreed that this light blue Mouse Shaker was the perfect way to capture the Kali River Rapids splashes in an embellishment! I tried to continue the splash effect throughout the rest of my page by doing some stenciling and paint splattering. I created this page in my son's WDW 2020 junk journal using @scraps_and_ink_crafts sketch number 128. I rotated the sketch 90 degrees and then mirrored it. I have a tag at the top of my stack of photos where my son will write his journaling about our first safari of the day. The park map acts as the patterned paper strip across the middle. I layered torn paper scraps under the title label, and above it, I used the Safari stamp set to create a scene in the background on the thin swipe of gold paint. I layered stamped stars to add depth. I was just featured at @scraps_and_ink_crafts for a design team member spotlight, and I created this page for the post. It tells the story of the first time I participated in the March Disneybound Challenge. This layout was a labor of love. It's been a while since I've made a 12x12 page and even longer since I've made a double-page spread, but I had a lot of photos and a lot of words to record about this experience. Because I've been so interested in junk journaling, I wanted to bring some of those techniques and mixed media effects onto this project, as well. I decided to use book pages, notebook paper, Disney Store tissue paper, and white tissue paper as my "standard" layers behind the matted square photos. Each cluster has several pieces from that list. I added some extra layers like patterned papers and stenciled brown packing paper to different clusters to highlight the character colors. Here’s another layout in the WDW 2020 junk journal! @scraps_and_ink_crafts Sketch 116 was perfect for these three photos of dining at Sanaa. My son loved his meal choices, and we all loved the atmosphere. I created a shaker pouch as a base layer for the cluster of photos and journaling. I kept the journaling in the same place as the sketch, but I moved my title above the horizontal photo so that I could show off more of the pixie dust. I used washi for the horizontal strips and torn paper to add the layers to the right. In the background, I did repeated stamping on the brown paper to give it some texture. For this week's "episode" of Multiples Monday with @scraps_and_ink_crafts , I thought it would be fitting to document the multiples upon multiples of snowflakes that fell at home while we were away in WDW in 2016. This layout functions as a bit of an epilogue to my 2016 trip albums-- telling the story of the one last bit of "magic" to soften the blow of coming home from a Disney trip. On this pocket layout, I used three different snowflake dies, five pieces from the snowflake laser-cut acrylic set, and three sparkle gems to create a blizzard of embellishments. I sprinkled them throughout all the pockets so that it would give an overall feeling of a snowstorm. I cut the dies from both vellum and plain white cardstock for some extra dimension. The Kilimanjaro Safari is one of my favorite attractions in WDW, so on our Animal Kingdom day in 2020, I was so happy that we got to go twice! This junk journal page in the journal I'm making for my son shows one of his favorite photos from that evening -- two male lions soaking up the sunset. This photo was the inspiration for the dies I chose to use! I blended some green inks onto the kraft cardstock from which I'd cut the Animal Kingdom Tree die. I cut one of the Mouse Circles from white cardstock and blended orange ink in from the edges. I layered them on my page so that it created the idea of a sunset scene. In the background, I used the Scattered Mouse Background to do a diagonal of green ink blending behind the photos, and I added some camera stamping. For this installment of our @scraps_and_ink_crafts Once Upon a Stash feature, I focused on ways to use scraps! Not only did I use torn and border-punched patterned papers to frame my photos on this junk journal spread, but I also used the Park Tag stamp set to create a custom tag with layered stamping on an offcut of kraft cardstock from my scrap drawer. I finished it off with white acrylic paint to add a textured edge. I think it looks a bit like snow, which is perfect to house the journaling my son will write about riding Expedition Everest! For this junk journal spread about riding Slinky Dog Dash, I leaned into the blue, orange, red, and green of @scraps_and_ink_crafts palette 122! I absolutely love layering different media for a visually textured background, and this project is no exception. There was already some stenciled brown paper (using the Mouse Background die) along the fold of the spread, and on top, I stamped different colors of stars in several sizes from various S&IC stamp sets (I just LOVE those tiny stamps! They add so much magic!) I layered patterned papers behind my photos and used the top photo as a pocket for a tag where my son's journaling will go. Of course, I couldn't resist adding Slinky Dog himself in the form of an acrylic piece! I used Silhouette Studio to print-and-cut the @scraps_and_ink_crafts iNSD2023 digital elements at quarter-scale and half-scale to have a variety of adorable embellishments for this page showcasing (haha--see what I did there? Epcot World Showcase? ...haha...anyone?) the gorgeous evening glow of the EPCOT ball. With the map background and the embellishment clusters accentuating my photos, I simply added a sprinkling of pixie dust in the form of stamping (Park Tag set) and topped it all off with some of my beloved sparkle gems! The @scraps_and_ink_crafts iNSD palette couldn't have been more perfect for this photo from our dinner at San Angel Inn inside the Mexico Pavilion! I added some inking by cutting the Scattered Mouse Background and using it as a stencil over the intersection of the papers of the collage background. I used quite a few of the quarter-scale print-and-cut pieces from the S&IC printable on this page, leaving a journaling spot open for my son to add his words later. I had so much fun playing in the Disney junk journal making some Star Wars pages for the May the Fourth celebration with @scraps_and_ink_crafts !These three pages showcase photos and memories from our second day in Hollywood Studios/Galaxy's Edge during our family trip in 2020. I began this section by swiping white and blue paint across the pages to mute some of the background collage and soften the edges between the collage pieces. I added splatters of those paints for even more texture, and I think it gives a bit of a starry effect, too. The top layer of the background is filled with a sprinkling of star stamps from the amazing @scraps_and_ink_crafts clear sets. The last page in this trio features a photo of my son wearing the R2-D2 bounding shirt that he designed with me. We found the perfect spot to take pictures next to the droids! There was no way I was going to miss out on the chance to use this beautifully detailed R2 die from @scraps_and_ink_crafts ! I cut it with grey cardstock, and while it would look amazing layered on another color of cardstock, I decided to leave the cut outs open to let the mixed media on the background show through. I wanted my son to have plenty of space to include journaling, so I punched a tag with a star shaped hole that slips into a pocket formed by the photo. We couldn't get enough of Galaxy's Edge when we went to WDW in 2020. This spread shows the highlights of our first afternoon: lunch at Oga's, and a sweet encounter with Chewbacca! @scraps_and_ink_crafts color palette 120 was the perfect starting point: there were a lot of blues and reds in the photos from Oga's, so I added some lime green washi and green print-and-cut labels to bring in the green as an accent color. I just had to use the "Punch it Chewie" acrylic piece on this spread! I created this 8.5”x11” pocket page during the @simplescrapper Stash Bash event that took place in March 2023. We had a “blind scrap” challenge, and within the challenge, we were given a (surprisingly large!) list of supplies to use on our pages. It was super inspiring, and I'm so excited about how this layout for my 2016 WDW album turned out. The ssupply list included using at least 5 die cuts (at least two to be non-rectangular!!), and my thoughts immediately went to my @scraps_and_ink_crafts dies. I ended up used four different metal dies from Scraps & Ink Crafts on this pocket page! The next junk journal page is also Toy Story themed! I added some stenciling through a Mouse Background die cut using red and yellow ink. The stenciling spans the collaged background papers that form the base of my journal (stamped printer paper and packing paper, as well as a printed park map and an old book page). Here is the next spread (and half of the third!) in my WDW 2020 junk journal. I loved using the tiny stamps from a variety of @scraps_and_ink_crafts clear stamp sets to create clusters of stars that spanned the pages and the collaged backgrounds, tying everything together. I started adding entries to my son's 2020 WDW junk journal! My son had chosen three photos from our arrival day, so I printed the two from our resort at 3"x2" and the Skyliner selfie at 3"x4." I attached each of the small photos only on three sides so that they become pockets for small tags. I'm going to have my son write his own captions for this mini album! I layered strips of washi under and over the edges of the small photos to help them to stand out from the background. The larger photo is the feature of this spread, so I layered a couple scraps of patterned paper behind, and the Skyliner cut file was so perfect! I stamped on vellum to add behind the window, popped it up with some foam tape, and layered on a wooden Mouse head to finish it off! Read more about the details on my blog! This 6x12 pocket insert tells the story of our ride on Spaceship Earth during our 2016 trip to WDW. The photos I used don't show the famous outside view of the ride, so I turned to a cut file to include the iconic sphere-- because I was using a digital file, I was able to mirror and resize for a perfect fit. I decided that it was the perfect time to complete the pocket page that precedes my Pangani Trail pages in my 2016 Disney album. The challenges at @disney.creative.co are all Christmas in July sooooo I finally made my first December Daily 2021 page 😅 We took a break at Magic Kingdom and rode the monorail over to the Grand Floridian to see the gingerbread house and have a snack. I have to say-- I LOVE the way this layout turned out! This is my take on this month's @disney.creative.co Once Upon a Stash challenge for the design team to use ribbon! I love the opportunity to prove to myself that it was a good idea to keep all those scraps that I have sorted into bags by color, and I was excited when I had the idea to make little ribbon pennant banners to mimic the fluttering banners in the Asia section of Animal Kingdom. Cast members are at the core of the magic-making at the Disney parks, and with an upcoming trip planned, I thought it would be fun to create some little cards to have in my bag to thank any cast members that sprinkled us with a little extra pixie dust. The @disney.creative.co design team was challenged to use a bright palette from Toy Story, and it was just the right cheerful feeling I wanted for my cards. I left room for a small hand-written message on the front; more could be written on the back, if I chose. I packed this little set of cards together with a pen in a pouch to carry as we enjoyed the Disneyland parks at the beginning of May! Flowers are the stash challenge at @disney.creative.co and at first I didn't think I had anything to use; but there are so many ways you could go with this challenge! Floral paper, those paper Prima flowers, embellishments, flower shaped photos, and more. I have been *ahem* "saving" this purple floral paper for a long time... it was actually the top of a tall calendar from Rifle Paper Co several years ago. I thought it went well with this Alice photo and I love how it turned out! I had a few paper flowers I got at Michael's years ago and added those plus some facets and a yellow Mickey shaker from @scraps_and_ink_crafts .
