Happy Sunday everyone🌼 . Please, welcome my final collection of tactile hand embroidered hoop art pieces featuring hand-written letters sent by passionate individuals who took the time to write a personal message to "throw-away culture". . My mission with this project is to raise awareness and start conversations about throw-away culture and its impact on our lives and our planet. Although, at this moment this project is conceptual, I really hope that this can be the start point of a meaningful craftivism project & cause which can spark conversations & hopefully change. . Throughout the process of creating these pieces, my main priority was to use only materials ( fabrics, yarns & threads) which were already available to me at home and by this making my own practice more eco-conscious and saving resources. . I'll share all 4 of my final pieces with you soon so you can see more details and each message. ☺️ stay tuned✌🏻
And it's finally over...I officially did it, I finished my 4-year undergrad yesterday. Today was officially my first day of this next chapter of my life which is exciting and scary at the same time. . I'll keep sharing more pictures about my final major project & collection but I intend to share all my little art & making adventures as well because now, this is my officially art account☺️ . so I really hope that all you lovely peeps here wouldn't mind to have a good mixture of this & that here cos I am interested in soo many things and I definitely would want to share them all; literally from digital illustrations, to embroidery & fiber art projects, to upcycling, possibly pottery ( using air dry clay) and to be honest, god knows what else I will fancy creating or trying out. Probably now that I have finished, I will give embroidery a good rest and dip my toe into some other creative projects which I am so excited about. Psss.... a Sculpd little pottery kit is already on its way🤩 . Hope you're gonna be here with me throughout this next chapter to see where my artist / freelance adventures take me🌎✌🏻 . Today was the day I finally handed in my Final Major project at uni. OMG...I did it. Even a couple of weeks ago this felt impossible to do. What a rollercoaster this past few months were .... . One final deadline for me on Tuesday and I am DONE🤩 I cannot describe how ready I am for summer full of fun and adventures ( as much as we are allowed). 🛼☀️ . Hey there 🌼 please welcome my final FMP collection of textural & tactile hand embroidery pieces featuring hand-written letters I received from the lovely community here in this platform. . This is one of my favourite photos from my little photoshoot I have done at home this week so I thought why not share it?!☺️ . At this point, I won't reveal what this collection is actually for and any close-ups just yet...you have to wait around and see me introducing all 4 samples and my final visualisations. But it's safe to say that after such a rollercoaster of a journey during these last couple of months, I can say that I am proud of my work (and myself honestly) for producing this work in the middle of this chaotic world we have been living (not so) recently. And I am literally so proud of all the other undergrads finishing this year....save to say, we bloody earned that degree. . So if you fancy seeing more bits and bobs about this project and all my future work, stay tuned✌🏻
All the amazing letters I have received so far for my “Anti throw-away culture club” craftivism project from amazing individuals who are just as passionate about bringing change to the industry and people’s mindsets as I am. What YOU would say to throw-away culture if it was a person? Write it down! There is still time for you to join my project by sending me a hand-written letter addressed to throw-away culture. . What happens after? During April I would sample and experiment with how I can turn your hand-written letters into beautiful embroideries by adding texture , colour and care to your message. I would create a final collection of removable patches/ panels which can be added onto pre-loved garments as a way to personalise & upcycle them. I’ll share my process with you on this platform so you get to see what I’m up to☺️ . Huge thank you to everyone who’s already joined and everyone who’s considering sending a letter.
