Subways are my playground for light and shadow! This shot's all about the Zen Paper "magic" – my new black and white film recipe that just nails those deep shadows. Had to be patient here – the underpass was packed. But then, like magic, a lone figure emerges from the darkness into the light. Boom! Wide-angle lens did the rest. New lens, new perspective! This subway shot is a bit of a gamble – playing with my new wide-angle for the first time to capture the sheer scale of the place. Timing was everything here. Still getting my bearings in this new black and white film series! This shot from a cramped corridor is a departure from my usual style – all tight spaces, close calls, and the constant flow of people. This particular gent here? He was taking his sweet time strolling down the corridor. I kept circling back after a few initial shots, trying to find the right frame. But this one, even slightly out of focus, became my favorite. Look at the blur of movement behind him – the young people walking behind him rush to catch up and pass him. It creates this weird mix of melancholy and a strange kind of joy. I am now embarking on a new journey. I'm changing the format of the photos a bit to show more of them. In addition, for the coming period, I have set myself the goal of finding a Black and White Fujifilm film recipe that I can truly feel is my own. Now I'm experimenting with the recipe called Zen Paper. The Budapest metro was one of the first places where I was able to try this recipe. It is one of my constant photo subjects, because I can capture great facial expressions. About this photo I especially like the way she is contemplating on something.
