Is this a hill I’m willing to die on? No. Do I wish people used the term lived in instead? Yes. Whenever I have a new guest in my chair, or even talk about this with regulars, they all say the same thing. They’re not really sure how to say what they want. Balayage is such a popular term in the hair world that everyone says it. It’s a French word that means sweeping and its biggest association is with hand painting highlights and open air processing them. Why is the distinction so important? Hand painted highlights visually look very different than foil highlights. Do I think one is better than the other? No. I love hand painting and it has a special place in my heart but I use different tools for different looks. Whatever gets you the look you’re going for is what I think is best. In the earlier years of my career I did a lot of charity work. Some include haircuts for the homeless with Rob’s barbershop. after we finished for the day Rob told me I’ve cut the most people that any stylist or barber had cut in a day for his program and he would love to have me back. I also would volunteer at St. Vincent’s home for abused children once a month. While in barber school I volunteered as a shampoo technician for a Cut-a-thon where all the proceeds went towards breast cancer awareness hosted by Avara’s. If you want to level up your 90’s blowout game, listen up 📢 I get asked every day by all my clients how to get the perfect blowout at home, and let me tell you something: it’s much easier than you think. Here’s how to achieve the ultimate glam 👇 📌But FIRST, be sure to SAVE this to come back to! 1⃣ Start with freshly washed and dried hair. 2⃣ Section your hair into manageable sections. If you have layers, make sure to divide them as well. 3⃣ Grab your round brush and roll your hair away from your face while blow drying, giving your hair maximum volume and bounce. 4⃣ Once each section is dry, gently release the brush and hold the hair in a loop shape. Spray with some of your favorite hairspray (I recommend Ghost Hairspray) because, girl, we want that hold! 5⃣ Set the look by using the cool shot feature on your blow dryer. Blast each section with cool air. This will ensure your 90’s blowout lasts all day. 💥BONUS TIP: You can even use velcro rollers to set the volume in your bang and top section for that extra volume. 👉Quick tip: The more layers, the better!
