We couldn’t be prouder of this 2015/Boys team and how far they’ve come this year. A huge shout out and thank you to Coach Ben for his commitment to these boys. He said he’d make them better and he sure did!! Also a big thank you to Coach Edgar for his dedication and support from the beginning. We started in copper and had a pretty brutal start losing many games by double digits but the boys put in the work and we finished the year as champions of spring league in bronze, going undefeated all spring, scoring 40 goals, and only letting in 14. Yesterday, Azzurri 2011B Blue secured a thrilling 3-2 victory against El Dorado Hills. Despite trailing 0-1 in the first half, the team showed remarkable resilience, equalizing the game and taking the lead 2-1 after a penalty kick. Although the opponents managed to level the score, Azzurri maintained their composure, eventually clinching the win 3-2. 💙⚽️ Victor was awarded the Player of the Match for his assist and relentless pressure on the opposition's defense throughout the entire game. This morning, the Azzurri U17 Girls competed in the semifinals of the State Cup game in Davis. Prepared and focused, the team secured an impressive 4-0 victory against East Sac Pride! 💙⚽️ Super proud of all these ladies for playing with so much passion, determination and having each others backs with great passing and defense for 90 minutes! Johanna Petrone scored 2 goals from 20 yards out, Julie Magana scored one from a beautiful cross from Genesis Ruiz, and Clarrisa Recendez scored a goal by getting around the goalie. These ladies came to play! ⚽️💙 Clarrisa Recendez scored both goals, with the last one sealing the game with just 1 minute left to play. The 2014 boys had a packed weekend, squaring off against GCU on Saturday and Yuba City Rayados today! Saturday concluded with a 7-1 victory, as the boys started strong and never let up. Joseph and Carson were awarded Man of the Match for their outstanding defensive play, effectively shutting down the opponents' wingers. Today, they faced Yuba City Rayados and secured a 7-2 win! The boys entered the game with high energy, aiming to maintain their winning streak. Their passing and communication were excellent, creating numerous scoring opportunities. Everyone sustained a high level of play throughout the match. The entire team deserves the Man of the Match recognition for their collective effort and commitment on the field! The Azzurri 2007/Girls played in the Reno Spring Cup this weekend and came home as CHAMPIONS!!! 💙⚽️🏆 They played 4 tough games that were all a nail biter to the end. Truly hanging by the edge of our seats til the last whistle!! They tied 2-2 to the Idaho Inferno Soccer Club, and then beat the Idaho Surf Club 1-0 on Saturday. Played San Jose Rush in the semi-finals on Sunday that ended 2-2 but won on PK's 4-1 to get us into the Finals! They played great soccer all game in the Finals winning 1-0 against the Idaho Surf Club with 5 minutes left of the game! These girls played with so much passion and did a tremendous job all 4 games. So Proud of them all!! The players of the games were Abby, Josslyn, Clarissa, Skyla, Genesis, Jasmine, Julie, Lilly, Emilia, Gianna, Tori, Ximena and Zoey!! Way to go ladies! The Azzurri 2011/Girls lost 1-2 in the final of the Blackhawks Super Cup but played the best game of their season. 💙⚽️ 2010/Girls travelled to Las Vegas this weekend for the Las Vegas Invitational. This newly formed team (only together for 2 months of Winter League!) faced some extremely stiff competition. They battled the elements, weather related schedule changes and this team showed grit through it all. Standout players of the weekend were Avery Sandgren, Audrey Lemaster, Brielle Milner and Kaia Ruelas. Our 2014/Boys made it to the Sac United Spring Shootout Championship Game.🏆 Unfortunately we didn’t get the result we wanted, falling to Valley Surf, but overall extremely proud of these Boys. (Oct, 29, 2023) Azzurri 2011/Boys Blue played their hearts out today in memory of our late Club President, Doug Heacock, ending up in 2nd place in the Folsom Lake Halloween Tournament. They lost the championship game 1-0 against Folsom Lake pre-NPL. The Boys did very well for it being their first tournament, and making it to the Championship Game. 💙⚽️ As always I am very impressed with how well they play together and never give up.
