On June 18, the @konzerthausberlin celebrated the 200th anniversary of the famous concert hall and the world premiere of Carl Maria von Weber's "Freischütz". The piece wrote music history in 1821 and all of Berlin sang and whistled catchy tunes like the "Jägerchor" or the song of the "Jungfernkranz". For the 2021 performance, the Catalan theater company La Fura dels Baus, celebrated worldwide for its avant-garde opera productions, ventured deep into the German forest in the Great Hall of the Konzerthaus and delivered an exciting new interpretation of the romantic opera. The performance was broadcast live and immersively to the Gendarmenmarkt in front of the Konzerthaus where 500 enthusiastic spectators celebrated the production and the performers. A star of the evening was Trinidad and Tobago-born opera singer Jeanine De Bique, whose engagements include Salzburg Festival, Konzerthaus Berlin, Deutsche Oper, San Francisco Opera, and Dutch Opera. Her debut album with Concerto Köln and Berlin Classics will be released this fall.
